The UK's crop circle season has been very active this year, so active, in fact, that cops in England are cracking down on the practice, reminding unauthorized crop circle makers that they are committing a crime, and asking farmers to keep an eye out for any trespassers. What if some of the crop circle makers turn out to be extra terrestrials, though?
That said, here are the top five most amazing crop circles of 2017, so far: 5. June 17th: Cheesefoot Head, Hampshire
Could this crop circle be a symbol for the upcoming August 21st eclipse? That's what some people think, as the design appears to represent the sun and the moon interconnected together.
4. July 1st: Boreham Wood, Wiltshire
In this 200-foot crop circle design, a viewer can easily see a six-petaled flower inside a circle. Could this be a symbol for the vitality or the circle of life somehow?
3. July 8th: Hackpen Hill, Wiltshire
The eccentric shapes and mix of bright and dark colors in this crop circle design make it especially intriguing. The circle is located near the Hackpen White Horse, a beautiful and still-to-this-day unexplained "chalk hill figure of a white horse."
2. July 5th: Battlesbury Camp, Wiltshire
Apparently, this crop circle shows an ancient, universal symbol called the "Celtic Shield Knot," which has the purpose of protection. Some online have suggested this very precise design could be ET-made!
1. May 22nd: Dorset, England
Near the famous and potentially ancient Cerne Abbas Giant hill figure, which depicts a cave man with a club, a new and similarly simple looking design has popped up. The modern-day crop circle shows a seemingly more evolved, glowing figure inside of two circles.
Do you think some or all of these crop circles could be made by aliens? Or are they just a fun thought-proving attraction? Do you have any crop circles you'd add to this list?

Crop circle season has officially begun, with a beautiful design appearing in Wiltshire, England on April 16th of this year. While many online speculate this one to be man-made, everyone seems intrigued by the meaning behind it. The design is similar to petroglyphs carved into the Cochno Stone, which dates to 2,400-3,000 BC.
The crop circles of 2016 were just as impressive and surprising as ever, with many lovely designs popping up throughout the United Kingdom. Whether man-made, ET-made, or both, these beautiful 2016 crop circles deserve a look:
5. Stonehenge, Wilts in July
On the 20th anniversary of a famous July 1996 Stonehenge crop circle, another circle near Stonehenge appeared. Although the 1996 circle was much larger, both circles sport beautiful, sharp mathematical designs, with the modern-day one clearly displaying a seven-pointed star. The number seven symbolizes enlightenment and the non-physical realm.
4. Ansty, Salisbury, Wiltshire in August
Although many online were quick to point out this gorgeous UK crop circle's similarity to the logo of a scifi glass and apparel shop called Mothership Glass, not everyone is quick to pronounce it has a man-made hoax. After all, maybe aliens and humans are just inspired by the same symbols of sacred geometry?
3. Chilcomb Ranges, Hampshire, England in August
200 total triangles can be counted in this intriguing design, which also apparently demonstrates the number 23, a number symbolizing the synchronicity of life events. Some speculate the circle could represent a calendar or date.
2. Reigate Hill, Reigate, Surrey in July
Shortly after a friendly alien face with a feathered head appeared in Surrey, England, a woman was spotted visiting the crop circle, trying to absorb its "vortex energy," despite the fact that the circle is located on private property. Does someone or something think UFO and Alien Disclosure is coming soon? This recent crop circle is reminiscent of another one from 2002 in South England.
1. Ranscomb Bottom, Calstone Wellington, Wilts in July
A leading crop circle site named this crop circle the most "impressive formation of 2016," so it's fitting that it would make the #1 spot on this list. The 450-foot wide circle is just as lovely at is perplexing to look at it, eloquently displaying a variety of dizzying geometric "ideas."
Are there any crop circles from 2016 that you think should have been included on this list? What do you think of these crop circles? Did aliens make them? Humans? Both?
Crop circles have stumped and divided the scientific community for decades. What do they mean? Where do they come from? Are aliens trying to tell us something? Although many, perhaps most, crop circles can be explained as man-made art (or hoaxes), many still defy logic, and so have fallen onto the plates of ufologists.
The most hotly debated crop circles all have weirdly similar characteristics: they appear overnight, leaving behind radiation, bent (but not broken) plants, and coded messages. Although reports of crop circles go back thousands of years, they didn't become a household name until the 1970s. In 1978 a pair of pranksters took credit for some of the first headline-making crop circles, threatening to tear down all the mystique of the emerging tourist attraction. But soon after, crop circles popped up all over the world, many eluding scientific explanation. If one pays close attention, he or she may notice an eerie correlation between the history of UFOs and the history of a crop circles. UFOs and crop circles both appear to be a real and persistent unexplained phenomenon, plagued by hoaxes, disinformation, and mocking from the scientific community. Despite the scrutiny, 200+ crop circles appear, and thousands if not millions of people travel to see them, every year. Here are five of the most famous crop circles to ever have been created...Did man or aliens make these? 5. West Woodhay, West Berkshire, England
A mysterious serpent design appeared in crop circle form on or around July 29th, 2011 in an English town less than an hour away from Stonehenge. It addition to being one of England's most famous crop circles, it is also one of the largest.
4. Silbury Hill, Wiltshire, Southern England
On July 5th, 2009, a crop circle with Mayan symbolism formed in a Southern England town. Many speculated it was a warning of the end of the world. After all, this was just a few years before 2012! The crop circle was dubbed the "Quetzalcoatl headdress" for its (apparent) Mayan inspiration:
3. Goes, Holland, Netherlands
The small Dutch town of Goes is home to the biggest crop circle ever. The famous "butterfly" crop circle came to being in August 2009, and is quite beautiful. It also measures in at a whopping 2,000-feet long and wide. Despite its staggering size and perfection, the crop circle is apparently a man-made copycat, made by 60 students to be exact, according to a video made about its construction.... or is it?
2. Sparsholt, Hampshire, England
In August 2002 in Sparsholt, a village in Southern England, a crop circle featuring a classic gray alien face and a strange disc formed. It turns out the disc was designed in binary code, which translated into a very creepy foreboding message: "Beware of the bearers of FALSE gifts and their BROKEN PROMISES. Much PAIN but still Time. There is GOOD out there. We Oppose DECEPTION conduit CLOSING (BELL SOUND)"
1. Alton Barnes, Wiltshire, Southern England
On July 12th, 1990, this famous crop circle appeared overnight in England, as so many classic crop circles tend to do. The 430-foot-long pictograph was one of the first of its kind, paving the way for more and more intricate geometric and symbolic designs like it. The crop circle is located in Alton Barnes, a parish in the Southern England country of Wiltshire, and is a certified tourist attraction. The same year the crop circle was formed, Led Zepplin released a box-set compilation album and used a photograph of it for the album cover, forever securing its place in time as one of the most famous crop circles ever.
