The original and legendary founder and host of the Coast to Coast AM radio program, Art Bell, passed away on Friday, April 13th, 2018 in his home in Nevada. Bell was a beloved late night radio host who discussed UFOs, ghosts, aliens and other paranormal topics with callers and guests, keeping both the armchair skeptic and the hardcore conspiracy theorist equally engaged, show after show.
Before his broadcast career, Bell served in the US Air Force as a medic, where he operated a radio station out of the Amarillo Air Force Base and routinely played anti-war music.
In recent years, Bell hosted a few different paranormal shows, including Coast to Coast AM, but also announced his plans to retire, which were in part due to his concern about repeat home intruders who he suspected were trying to prevent him from continuing on air. Many people, from national reporters at Fox News to current Coast to Coast AM host George Noory, went online to share the sad news and express their condolences. TexasUFOs is saddened to say goodbye to one of the best radio voices and storytellers there ever was, and is indebted to Bell for the path he so uniquely and entertainingly paved for paranormal researchers everywhere. For those who didn't listen to Coast to Coast AM back in the day, and also for those who did!, here's a classic Coast to Coast AM clip, featuring Bell's conversation with a panicked Area 51 employee:
