Spooky Emergency Sirens Wake Up the City of Dallas

• When: April 10th, 2017 evening
• Where: Dallas, Texas
• What: Tornado "warning" sirens sounding for about 40 minutes; officials say system was hacked

More than 150 sirens sounded throughout the city of Dallas earlier this month. Naturally, locals panicked about all kinds of possibilities for the sirens - like a deadly tornado, Russian invasion, and even the end of the world.

The event even made the national news.

The sirens sounded from 11:44 PM to 1:20 AM, and after they were finally shut off, officials blamed hackers. This explanation may not provide residents with much relief, but most can agree it's better to be safe than sorry. The good news is officials promise to upgrade the current emergency sirens so this doesn't happen again.
