On today's episode of the daytime talk show the Ellen Degeneres Show (which was actually filmed last Thursday night), 5-year-old presidential expert Macey Hensley got a chance to quiz President Barack Obama. She asked him if the Book of Secrets, which she said she'd learned about on the History Channel TV show "America's Book of Secrets", was real, and he cheekily replied "that's a secret." She then asked if "aliens are real," because from watching the show, that's what she had concluded. Obama calmly replied "We haven't actually made direct contact with aliens yet. But when we do, I'll let you know." Did President Obama just imply that aliens are real, but we've so far only made indirect contact? Many news outlets are covering the adorable interview, but not all are picking up on the implications. But the implications are clear to those who have been following along. President Obama's former adviser John Podesta and current head of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, after all, tweeted that his biggest regret from his time in office was not "securing the Disclosure of the UFO files" and Clinton says she's made a personal pledge to Podesta to "get the information out" about UFOs if she becomes the next president. This is not the first time Obama has talked about aliens in front of a national TV audience. He also joked with Jimmy Kimmel about his lack of knowledge on the topic back in March:
