VICE has just published an amazing new interview with Alien (1979) actor Yaphet Kotto about his experiences with the fictional aliens on director Ridley Scott's set, as well as... the real UFOs and aliens who have quietly haunted him throughout his life. Although Kotto claims he has never publicly talked about UFOs before this interview, I found a few obscure clips from an (apparent) 1993 documentary about a mass UFO sighting that Kotto recorded on camera. More on that, below. For VICE, however, Kotto opened up about a different mass UFO sighting he experienced in the Philippines, as well as his childhood encounters with extraterrestrial entities, which began at the age of 9 or 10:
"[On his childhood encounters with an "real-life "aliens"]
Kotto reflected on how there seemed to be a "pattern" to the UFOs he witnessed, as if he was "special" and able to summon them. A common type of UFO he witnessed was a strange sort of "smoke ring":
[On the regularity of UFO sightings] [On the large UFO sighting in the Philippines]
Although Kotto stated that he costarred in Alien because it was a great script, and nothing more, he did find himself constantly reminded of his real UFO encounters while filming. He even noticed strange Egyptian symbols on parts of the fictional spacecraft used in the film, which he was sure no one else noticed:
[On his experience filming Alien]
Kotto also recalled the fearful days that followed after director Ridley Scott traumatized the crew by surprising them all with an alien effect. This fearful time is also when he decided to become a ufologist:
[About the fear on set, and his decision to become a ufologist.]
When I was doing research for this article, I came across two very strange YouTube videos that appear to show clips from a documentary made by Kotto back in the 1990s. Though I can't find the original footage, or much information about it, for that matter (there is no IMDB listing for it), it appears to document a September 1993 UFO sighting over a church in Marmora, Ontario, Canada, in which a light, appearing as a heavenly angel - if you can believe it, hovered for a long duration of time:
According to the YouTube channel (a Kotto fan account, it seems), the 1993 sighting occurred over a church located on Bursthall Street in Marmora, and was seen by many in the village, who proclaimed it to be a spiritual event. Kotto's opinion, however, was that it was not a spiritual event, but a UFO event. That opinion was evidently not popular with the locals, and that could be the reason we've never heard about this sighting before. In addition to the sighting, here is the other alleged clip from the documentary.
Perhaps this 1993 sighting is a hoax or a misunderstood work of fiction, or not actually affiliated with Kotto at all? It is hard to imagine why a respected actor would put everything on the line with a UFO hoax, but one can never really know these days. Regardless, why was this left out of the VICE interview? Kotto ends the VICE interview by citing his belief that aliens may disclose themselves soon, and they may have an environmentally-friendly message. Will the UFO and Alien Disclosure movement make faster headway thanks to "celebrity" UFO sightings like these, and do aliens have a positive message for humans here on Earth? What do you think of this latest VICE interview or the supposed UFO sighting that Kotto filmed in 1993? I will do my best to follow up for more information, but you can share your thoughts on this story in the comments below, or on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
