The Driskill Hotel in Downtown Austin, Texas is lovely, luxurious, romantic, historic, and... haunted?

There are many ghost stories that line the halls of the hotel, which was opened in the 1800s and still features many and even creepy oil paintings from the time. The Driskill easily landed a spot on TexasUFOs.com's list of "Most Haunted Places in Texas." But for this article, we're going to focus on what might be the most haunted Driskill hotel room of all... Room 525.

While many parts of the hotel have some haunting history- the original owner died in the hotel and a little girl once fell down the stairs to her death, among other tragic stories.

According to legend, two women who were on their honeymoon stayed in the now-infamous Room 525 together one night. For some unknown reason, both the women committed suicide, and their bodies were discovered in the room's bathroom. These women were given the sad nicknames of the "Suicide Brides" and the Driskill Hotel decided to close the room and put bricks over it. But it is open again today for brave guests. Unsurprisingly, many guests have reported strange occurrences while staying in Room 525.

Guests who stay in the room sometimes report odd water leaks that don't have any origin, ghostly apparitions (specifically of a bride), and other frightening experiences.

One couple who adored the hotel and stayed in the room in September 2016ended up checking out in the middle of night after being spooked by flickering lights and mysterious knocks on the door!

I stayed at the hotel last year with my daughter who is 27.
We had different rooms. I can’t remember my room number, but my room has the same layout as the one in the picture. Mine was near the elevator. Anyways, I was falling asleep on my side, alone in my room, and I heard a giggle then something or someone actually spooned me. I felt this pressure down my entire body to my feet. Like a body or thick blanket. It then preceded to roll up my back and onto the top of my side- then left. I was frozen in fear. First I thought it was my daughter playing a joke on me, but remembered she had her own room and I double locked the door. I was so fearful I froze and started to think I must have fallen asleep and it was a dream. I was rationalizing it. Trying to calm myself down. Then , all of a sudden it happened again. Then I was even more terrified. I knew I was not sleeping now and it was not a dream. I was wide awake in fear. It was heavy like I could y really move and it rolled up my back again then left . I jumped up out of bed and turned all the lights on and was out of my mind scared. It’s like 10:15pm and I’m contemplating going to stay with my daughter next door or get another room. But wasn’t sure what to do so I just said loudly it isn’t funny and I’m not going to respond to the joke or event . Then I tried to stay awake for another 2 hours and finally at 12:30am, after nothing else happened I tried to go to bed again. I was scared but I didn’t feel like someone was trying to hurt me. But to play with me or make me realize it’s their space. I didn’t have it happen again. In the morning I went down to talk to the reception people. I asked if someone worked there a long time-and if I could talk to them . The 2 young girls said they were newish. They seemed perplexed by my request and asked why. I told them something very alarming happened in my room and then laughed and pulled out a 4 page double sided sheet of all the haunting. They asked me to tell them what happened. They said it was some girl that died by falling down the stairs. She giggles before she does pranks. What a story. I’ll never stay there again. Didn’t know it was so haunted.
