Meteor Hits and Kills Man in India - Right Before 2-Year Anniversary of Chelyabinsk Meteor Impact2/7/2016
A male bus driver by the name of V. Kamaraj was tragically killed after getting hit by a meteorite on Saturday, February 6th. News traveled far, making it to CNN and NPR and other mainstream outlets - not just for the tragedy, but for the precedent. This is purportedly the first time anyone has ever died because of a meteorite impact.
That statistic is hard to believe, but consider this - while Texas UFO Sightings reported on a meteor causing two deaths in 2013, the cause of both deaths was more indirect - smoke inhalation. Many sites covered the story, but this VERY GRAPHIC Liveleak video (watch at your own risk) does the best at documenting the event, and showing the evidence. Here are some screen grabs if you don't want to watch it: WARNING: THE FOLLOWING VIDEO CONTAINS GRAPHIC IMAGES (see screenshots above if you do not wish to view)Is this just bad luck, or a sign of bad things to come? There have been many large fireballs reported of late, and we are about to round Valentines Day - it was just two years ago on February 14th when an asteroid exploded over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, injuring thousands. Believe it or not, there's an even bigger asteroid than this one due to fly by Earth on March 5th. Have you seen a meteor in Texas recently? Do you think the biggest and brightest of them are yet to come? Or is this unfortunate death just that - unfortunate, and not anything more to read into?
