Strange "Squiggly" Lines Seen with Naked Eye Over New York - See Photos!

Very weird bright glowing lines were spotted with the naked eye and photographed in the nighttime sky over a city in New York, according to a recent MUFON report (case 94412):

Squiggly illuminated lines hovering in sky

On July24, 2018, he spotted the following objects hovering high in the sky above the horizon beyond his apartment complex. He used a Sony digital camera to capture. He indicated the squiggly lines in the photos were exactly as the lines in the sky appeared. The trails, bright spots, and curves were visible to the naked eye. They were not induced my camera movement.
Googling the internet, I see others have reported similar sightings in various countries.

What could have caused such a nighttime light show like this? Is it possible this was a hoax and in reality a single light was photographed, but the image got distorted?
