UFOs Can Be Dangerous, and the Incredible Cash-Landrum Incident of East Texas Proves It

One of the most terrifying and dangerous UFO encounters of all-time occurred in a place you might expect it to occur - the deep, dark, spooky woods. On December 29th, 1980, Becky Cash and Vicki Landrum, as well as Landrum's 7-year-old grandson Colby, were driving through the Piney Woods of East Texas when they spotted a large, diamond-shaped (but with no bottom or top) craft hovering overhead.

Becky,  who was driving at the time, and Vicki stepped out of their vehicle to get a closer look, and as they were observing the ominous craft, which hovered in mid air and emitted flames before taking off, 20+ helicopters approached it. The sighting lasted an incredible 8-10 minutes. However, Becky and Vicki's decision to get a closer look at the UFO would soon prove to be a bad one.

When Betty and Vicki went back to re-enter their car, they noticed the door handles were hot to the touch! But that was only the beginning of their troubles.

All three witnesses ended up experiencing classic symptoms of radiation poisoning shortly after the encounter, including skin blisters, nausea and hair loss. Their medical ailments were so well-documented, in fact, especially for Betty Cash, that the witnesses sued the US government for their medical bills, claiming that it knew about the dangers of this UFO but were pretending to be ignorant about it. The US government denied any knowledge of the incident, however, and the suit was ultimately thrown out.

The only surviving witness of the Cash-Landrum Incident is Colby, the grandson of Vicki Landrum, and he has done an interview as an adult and shares the same basic memories of his grandmother.

As well, many UFO researchers and authors have tried to do the case justice and continue to investigate to this day.

Skeptics are hot on the trail, as well. One writer accused Betty and Vicki of hoaxing the incident, as it would be unlikely that the two would choose to watch the UFO (rather than flee the scene), and it would also be unlikely that the two would remember such great detail about the encounter (like the number of helicopters). None of this skepticism is warranted, if you ask me. If Vicky and Betty had continued driving and never stopped to observe the UFO, the same writer might ask "why didn't they stop to look at it or follow it?" Similarly,  if Vicki and Betty didn't provide detail about their encounter, the same writer may accuse them of making it all up. Furthermore, the encounter lasted for several  minutes, plenty of time to count up the number of helicopters in the sky.

This skeptical writer also claimed the US government had zero knowledge about any UFOs. In 2017, however, the New York Times revealed that the government has indeed investigated UFOs secretly, and in modern times.

As always, you be the judge about whether this amazing UFO sighting is real or not. If it is real, it's one of the more disturbing UFO cases ever on record.

Fun fact: the Cash-Landrum Incident occurred just one day after the Rendlesham Forest incident, a UFO case even more infamous!

You´ll never know what kind of technology they are using. Always keep a good distance, unless you are invited on board.

Don´t touch anything..!!

This was a test aircraft using a nuclear fuel. It wasn't alien. The Chinooks helicopters were there with personnel on board to monitor its flight and other data.

Nobody with brains would test an experimental nuclear fueled aircraft anywhere near civilians/towns/cities. The security risk would be too high. The feds have huge amounts of land out west where they could safely and legally conduct such testing unobserved.

I too think this was an experimental aircraft and was most likely experiencing problems and lost altitude and the swarm of chinooks were there for monitoring, security and quick cleanup if it crashed. Probably it was an alternate fuel project and unfortunately that fuel was nuclear. The melting of the pavement is indicative of high temps like those produced by a small nuclear engine.

This may be of interest. My sister and I witnessed a genuine, alien-liike craft when we were children playing in rural North Carolina (very close to a large Marine Corp base) Back in the mid 60's, our mom let us play in our wooden sandbox at night. The neighbor behind us had three or four dirt piles in her backyard and this object seemed to be interested in them. We didn't see or hear the object approach. Completely silent. We noticed it when the back yard was suddenly illuminated with light, as if a streetlight had turned on. The entire disk was lit up with a moon-like glow. It wasn't an irritating or bright glow but just enough to illuminate the area it was interested in. It was a calm, gentle, unobtrusive illumination.

It was about 20 or 25 feet in diameter and was level with the neighbor's roof. It was hovering over the first dirt pile. Apparently it saw us because it started moving toward us and we ran to our back porch out of fear. It stopped moving toward us and we watched it from the back porch as it slowly began to ascend. Again -- not a sound. It kept rising until it contacted the clouds very high up and it kept going up until the light it produced faded into the clouds.

Now when I think about it, I don't think it meant any harm. It just appeared to be curious about those dirt piles for some reason. When it realized it had frightened us, it stopped its approach and left us alone.

Also, in the early 70's on Okinawa, a high school friend of mine said he saw a literal, "flying saucer" about six feet in diameter fly over him and his friends. It was painted white and had US Air Force written on the bottom of it. They were playing glow-in-the-dark football at night. It made a whirring sound as it flew over them then it ejected a small object on a parachute. They ran to see what it was and it was just a rock with a parachute attached to it. Low budget payload!

Sorry for the lengthy write-up. Like your website. Thought you might find the memories interesting. Cheers.
