Interesting find. There seems to be more then meets the eye here. Spielberg claimed he received a 20 page letter from NASA telling him not to make Close Encounters. This article mentions it along with other movie facts: http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article.html?id=463395%7C467315
Thinking is that they feared public panic regarding UFO's much like Jaws had caused regarding Sharks, but as Spielberg stated, there may be more to it then that.
