Drone? Weather balloon? Strange star? In West Texas, a person spotted an object sitting pretty in the sky and fortunately got it on camera and uploaded the footage to YouTube: On 9-26-14, I went to outside around 8:00pm. What I encountered, is something I have never seen before. Scientists, weather professionals, and myself still are scratching there heads. UFO? Tell me. This sighting joins another recent sighting in Mesquite of a similar object.

During the past few months in Mesquite, two UFO sightings hit YouTube and MUFON and they're pretty similar, though may not be related. In both cases, a glowing object hovers in the sky. In the YouTube video description for the October 10th-ish sighting, the object is described as moving back and forth quickly but that activity was not caught on camera: I was waiting for my mom to get out of work and so I pulled my seat down to lay for a bit and then I was sitting there looking at the sky and I noticed this light that would move in such great speed back and forth so that's when I decided to turn on my phone camera and watched this light. Here are zoomed in photos and a description for the September 5th sighting in Mesquite: I was in my swimming pool and noticed an object high in the sky above me. I am an aviation nut and notice most things in the sky. I'm always looking up. I didn't know what the object was when I first saw it. Once I saw it. I got dried off and went inside as quickly as I could to get me Nikon Camera with 300mm zoom lense. I started snapping photos and took a short video as well. I knew that it was not an airplane, helicopter, blimp, or hot air balloon. Sky was clear except for some high cumulostratus clouds. This object was below these clouds. I estimate them being at 30 to 40 thousand feet. Winds aloft were at 290 degree at 50 knots at the time of viewing. This object did not move ESE as the cloud did. It pretty much hovered and might have moved slightly north from the south. The object was viewed near sunset and I viewed it until I could no longer see it. I breifly looked a way and could not find it again. It got fainter and fainter the darker it got. That lead me to believe that is was ascending. My wife, sister, brother-in-law all, father-in-law, and mother all saw it. My brother-in-law and I kept going back and forth about it being a weather balloon. I decided it couldn't be one because it was not moving with the clouds. I'm a private pilot and researched winds aloft after taking photos and my brother-in-law's weather balloon therory didn't add up to me. I thought is could have possibly been a planet. Venus would have been the only thing that I thought it could have been. I pulled out Google Sky Map on my phone and venus was setting to west with the sun. No other planets near this object. In my video I can see the object under clouds. The images Im submitting have been cropped and are from my Nikon D5100 with 300MM zoom. Have you seen anything like this in the Mesquite or Dallas area recently? A similar sight also popped up in Amarillo recently. Share your experience!
A neighborhood in the Waxahachie area was witness to dozens of lights that passed overhead, two waves of them to be exact. Could this have been two large crafts, Chinese lanterns (seems very unlikely based on the description and photo, though this was a Saturday evening sighting), or...? Check out the blurry photo (the witness is trying to track down higher quality photos from other witnesses) and testimony and judge for yourself: My son came down stairs because he thought he heard something outside. I went out with him just to entertain him. While outside he and I noticed a row of 9 lights, round and orange in color moving from northwest to southeast at a quick constant rate of speed. They were coming from Midlothian, Tx area from where we where standing. They made a slight turn heading due south and just disappeared about 5 seconds after heading that direction. Just as the last of the 9 started the southernly turn another group came up over the horizon. We watched and estimated 40-50 of these lights over a period of 20-30 minutes. The objects made absolutely no sound. There were 6 other witnesses. 4 from the 3houses next door an across the street, and 3 from the neighborhood that stopped to ask if we were seeing the same thing and I we knew what they were. I'm including a pic but I could not get the camera to focus clearly on the object. One I the neighbors has some very clear pics and I will ask if they will let me use them if needed. Victoria C witnessed two UFOs in the Shadow Creek Ranch area of Pearland and submitted testimony and a photo to Texas UFO Sightings. The UFOs were round, orange, and traveled together before separating and fading out: Two orange looking bright lights. They were side by side and slowly separating (one going right and one going left) then they just disappeared. Flares? Chinese lanterns? Ball lightning? Meteors? Aliens?
Whatever the case, pretty creepy thing to see! If you saw this phenomenon as well, please report your sighting.
10/18/2014 Update: May not be light pole after all... another similar sighting in Fort Worth has occurred. Texas UFO Sightings recently reported on a wave of "flying saucer" sightings in the Lone Star State. Folks have been photographing and videoing lots of circular objects with lights (and at least one of those videos has now been strangely removed from YouTube) and one of the latest of these appeared to have visited Big Tex at the Dallas State Fair: A fan of the Texas UFO Sightings Facebook page, however, noticed a daytime photo of Big Tex featuring light poles: Here are a few other views of the light poles from sources around the web: I don't think we can be totally certain the UFO witness was really a light pole witness, but seems like that's pretty likely!
I'm not sure if the original eyewitness was mistaken or just used the conveniently placed light poles to drum up a good photo and story. Or if they really did get some great UFOs on film - great photo regardless! Considering the other similar sightings of late, you can't 100% rule out anything - the placement of the light poles in the original image doesn't seem to match up with the placement in the daytime photos, but it really depends on how you look at it. Lots of angles! Is this case debunked for you? Or do think there's more than meets the eye? Join the Facebook conversation! |
