UFO Spotted Near DFW Airport - Witnessed by Experienced Pilot

11/24/2016

  • When: November 10th, 2016 at 8:40 PM
  • Where: Euless (Fort Worth area, near airport)
  • What: Euless (Fort Worth area)

An intriguing UFO report out of the Fort Worth area, specifically near the Dallas Fort Worth Airport, was submitted to NUFORC (case ID S131143). A bright red craft moving and then hovering was spotted by a private pilot with 40 years of experience in aviation, who also alerted local media to the event. Although there was no photo or video taken, you can read the testimony here, along with comments from NUFORC who spoke with the witness on the phone:
Bright red object in early night sky. Turned to purple moved horizontally and quickly vanished.

Event location: Euless Texas (just southwest of DFW Airport) Weather: Scattered high clouds but clear in the area of the observation Light: No external house lights on. Early evening just after sunset (dark) Observation: Looked to northern sky and saw a white object approaching. At first I thought it was an aircraft but then it stopped moving and held a fixed position. Seconds later, the object turned to a brilliant red light (no aircraft navigation lights or beacon).

Physical location of object from my position: It was 12 degrees (slightly east of north). The object was approximately at a 30-45-degree angle upward from my observation area. The object was west of the DFW airport and not in any known traffic pattern for DFW aircraft (west of approach/departure for runway 18L and 18R) DFW ATC: Arrivals from north and departures to south Observation: After approximately 30-45 seconds in a stationary position, the object changed color from brilliant red to purple (looked like a LED light).

Size of observed sighting: The object was smaller than the moon yet larger than a bright star. I compare the size to slightly smaller than my smallest fingernail.

Observation: Shortly after the object changed color to purple (approximately 5 seconds), it moved horizontally to the east toward DFW. The object did not move far (approximately 12 degrees to 20 degrees) and did not get close to DFW air traffic. Once again it stopped but was somewhat obscured from my view due to trees.

Observation: The object stayed in the obscured location for a very short time (maybe 3 seconds) and then appeared to move upward and north at a fast pace until it was out of sight.

Notifications: Contacted a former college who works with DFW ATC. Contacted local media KTVT at 7:10PM. Reported event to UFO Center via telephone. FYI- media asked for a photo or video (no time to think fast enough to get a camera). Media stated they could not report on the event without any physical evidence.

Total event time: 6:40PM for approximate 1.5 to 2 minutes (was hard to tell how long exactly).

My background: 40 years aviation (Operational Control, Emergency Response, Internal Evaluation, Airport Management). Private pilot and aviation safety consultant.

((ADDENDUM FROM WITNESS))

Yes, I did report it to the media (KTVT TV CBS affiliate DFW) but they said it would not be shared on the news without a photo or video. I told them that I just wanted the sighting on record in the event others call them with a similar observation.

I failed to mention the distance away in my report. Because of the darkness, it was very difficult to estimate the distance and accurately state the size of the object.

Thanks for the good work your team is doing. Maybe someday we will learn
more about unexplainable sightings such as this. I can assure you this is
an event I will not forget.

((END ADDENDUM))

((NUFORC Note: We spoke via telephone with the witness, and he sounded to us to be a highly qualified, and credible, witness. PD))

Large, Bright Meteor Filmed near Fort Worth - See Video

  • When: February 17th, 2016
  • Where: Euless (near Fort Worth)
  • What: Bright fireball or meteor falls from sky

February 20th, 2016 Update: Texas  UFO Sightings has been contacted about this event; apparently this was a meteorite and it landed, and people are looking for it - about 1 hour west of where the meteorite was seen falling. "RW" writes: "The video of the meteor on the 17th on fort worth camera, was a meteorite, that had landed, and people are searching for it just above Crosbyton, TX. Hwy 651, and 1471 area":

A Texan has captured a bright, brilliant, large meteorite falling - seemingly to the ground! - from their dashboard camera in Euless:

Cool video I captured with my dashcam of a really close meteor. I witnessed a similar incident higher up in the sky 2 days before this... Interesting happening, glad I was driving by at the right moment. This was on 183 Westbound in the Euless area.
What's odd about this fireball event is that there don't appear to be many other reports of this on the web, and the meteor showers for the month should really have occurred a few days prior to this on Valentines Day - in fact, a few years ago around that time, the Earth was hit by many meteorites.

February is always a pretty fiery time! Compare this meteor to one seen and filmed in the South of France on the same day:

"After tonight, I will always be a believer." - Crazy Fast Craft in Forth Worth Area

3/16/2013

  • When: March 14th, 2013
  • Where: Euless (near Fort Worth)
  • What: White, wingless craft going very fast (almost indescribably)
Update: Someone saw a very similar thing the night before in the same area!

A biochemistry student in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is bewildered by a bird-shaped, wingless, unlit white object he saw speed through the sky faster than any aircraft he'd seen before. He speculates that it could be the ISS or a satellite, but there was no such thing hover Euless or the broader Fort Worth area on that night.
I was outside listening to my music on my phone and I saw a shooting star ( meteor ). Then shortly after about 2-3 minutes I saw something that looked like a white bird. However it is 11:30ish pm and there are no birds out at this time of night. I KNOW it was not a plane, unless it was a stealth fighter. It had NO lights.

I could tell the difference in contrast by the black of the night sky and the light from the city underneath. I seriously thought it was a bird but I have not ever seen a bird move at speeds like this. It had a bird like shape but all I can say is that I viewed it for at least 5-10 seconds and it was out of sight.

I did take into consideration it could have been a satellite or the space station but there was no shine to it. It was as if it was an off-white opaque color.

I live right by the DFW airport and I am all too well knowing and understanding of how fast a man-made air craft can travel.
This was up to 5x that speed. It moved flawlessly and was out of site within 5-10 seconds. It was moving from south west to north east.

I would like to point out that I am a biochemistry student at UTA and I am a laboratory technician at a local laboratory. I study science and I understand the possibility of mis-identification and I use science and logic in my thinking. Whatever this was, Could be
1. A giant white bird that does not flap its wings
2. A man-made aircraft that is capable of moving up to 3000 miles per hour. Without lights
or
3. The space station or satellite orbiting the Earth.
OR
4. A UFO.

If this was not a UFO I definitely would say the possibility could be a satellite or the space station but I would expect some reflection from the sun at this distance and angle. There was no light reflection from this object other than its distinct color against the black of the night sky and the city lights.

I cannot get over how fast it moved from point A in the sky to point B, being B is the last visible point in the sky, lasting only 5-10 seconds.

I have always been curious of the idea of UFO's, however after tonight, I will always be a believer.
NASA's sky watching guide for satellites and the ISS does not have a March 14th record of any flights over Euless:
