The Coachella Music Festival is about to enter into its second and final weekend, and for many, the event has surely been smooth and wonderful. However, headliner Radiohead had to walk off stage two separate times due to technical difficulties. During the second concert interruption, Radiohead singer Thom Yorke remarked "fu**** aliens again."
While on the surface this is the sort of joke you might expect from a rock singer, with a goal to lighten the mood of an undoubtedly frustrated crowd. However, Thom Yore has a history of talking about aliens publicly, and even has written songs about them, so much so that there is even satire online about the singer being abducted by aliens. But what if he was? What if many artists who create amazing music were? It appears at the very least that Yorke thinks the idea of alien abduction is possible. Yorke said about his song Subterranean Homesick Alien: "Do I really hope to be on a spaceship? Why not. I believe there are aliens under the ground. I want to see them. I want to see ghosts. I want to walk on the street smiling, knowing that there are little green creatures with incredible large brains and big, beautiful, black eyes, that are filming us with their video cameras."
Is Thom Yorke's joke funny because it's kind of true, or just kind of funny? As always, you be the judge. Share your thoughts in the comments or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
