On May 22nd, an Austinite @Hannahh_Mackk tweeted: "Just saw either a crazy huge shooting star or a UFO or a meteor lolz we don't know" When pressed for details, they elaborated: "it almost looked like something had exploded and was falling on fire to the ground" There were indeed other sightings of meteor-like objects in North and Central Texas, including nearby Georgetown, at the time.

Examiner.com's UFO expert Roger Marsh caught wind of a MUFON report I missed. Apparently, a McAllen, Texan resident witnessed a UFO that, while stationary in the sky, kept distorting its shape and increasing and shrinking in size. Apparently, it was similar to a different McAllen UFO sighting (video posted below), which to me seems like a typical orb sighting. The witness speculated that it could be a drone. From the Examiner story: "It reflected the setting sunlight (still fairly bright and white at the time) but also glowed and alternately sharpened and slightly blurred in appearance," the witness stated. "The day was dry and clear, no clouds. I was only able to watch the event out my car window. My wife also saw the object and was disturbed by its appearance as something not easily explainable." The witness pulled into a cosmetology school parking lot for a better look. "By that time, the object had disappeared. The last look I had of it, it appeared to be shrinking in size and decreasing in size and brightness. This sounds like an aircraft moving into the distance, but the object did not move. I have observed aircraft on a straight line also appearing to hover, but this object did not look like an aircraft." The witness speculated on what the object could have been. "I would say it was some kind of large, drone-like object (maybe 50 feet in length), but the odd blurring of its surface edges, followed by a glowing and then sharpening of its outlines, was very odd. It was very distinct and very bright and then it disappeared." What the object looked like, according to the witness: A Texan has reported a UFO sighting into MUFON of a star-like object moving twice as fast as a plane on May 27th. Unfortunately, they didn't reveal the town they live in. The MUFON report: My girlfriend and I just got out of our car at our apartment complex after an early evening of fishing tonight 5/27/12. She got out of the car first. This was about 9:30pm Central. She hurriedly told me to get out of the car. I thought something was wrong so I got out and she said to look up and I saw a star-like object in the sky moving twice as fast as a plane would be. We see planes all the time. This was not in our atmosphere. It was white and moved in one direction to the Southeast above our heads. We waited and watched till it was out of our view. I don't know exactly what that was but it was great experiencing it because of how high it was and how fast it was moving. It didn't blink. It was like seeing a star that just moved really fast in the sky. It was too high to be a plane and too fast to be a plane.
A couple on a motorcycle riding on Austin's highway Mopac were witnesses to a pretty intriguing UFO sighting. They saw a cigar-shaped object, blindingly bright, jet across a clear, daytime sky, and then vanish, on May 28th. Here's the full MUFON report: My girlfriend and I where riding on my motorcycle south on Mopac Expressway in Austin, TX going to Barton Creek Wilderness Area. My girlfriend motioned skyward with her right hand pointing at a brilliant cigar shaped blinding flash of light in the sky to our southwest, thirty degrees above the horizon at our two o'clock. I had noticed it before she pointed it out. There were NO clouds in the sky. It was so bright it shown like a mirror reflecting light. My girlfriend thought it was very bright and so did I. My girlfriend says she began to wonder when the object became dull so quickly. The very next second it appeared cigar shaped and dull white like a commercial jet without wings or tail, like it was low flying, and it was moving to the right, then suddenly vanished. There was no where for it to go, the sky was clear and blue, no clouds at all for it to hide behind. Startled, I pulled over to see if we could find where the object might have gone, but the sky was completely empty. We both thought it was quite strange, we were both certain that we were looking directly at it when it disappeared, and we agreed we both saw it disappear while we were on my motorcycle, we were not looking away. We compared our experience a half an hour later to a small commercial jet flying at a relatively low altitude. The jet was easily identifiable as a jet and we could trace it with ease all the way across the sky. Our experience with the cigar shaped object was just the opposite. We could not trace any object flying a path across the sky, it simply vanished.
A driver has seen a very strange UFO over San Antonio. They witnessed what, at first glance, appeared to be a meteor or shooting star, but upon deeper thought, turned into an unidentified object. The sighting from May 22nd resembled a lightning bolt shooting straight across the sky. Here's the full testimony reported to MUFON: I was driving a semi-truck northbound on IH-35 about 40-50 miles of San Antonio,TX. In the sky above me i saw what i thought was lightening illuminating a section of the sky and i looked up and saw what looked to be a straight line of brilliant white light shoot across a section of sky. My immediate impression was that it was an meteorite or something burning up as it came closer to the earth. However, it was the same color and appearance as a bolt of lightening, and simply shot straight across the sky for maybe 2 seconds before ending. It left an afterimage in the sky very similar to a lightening strike, but there was no thunder. It lit up the few clouds in the sky which is what caused me to look up and wonder if it was lightening, and that's when the streak of light appeared. It was almost like a laser beam that lasted 2 seconds. I've seen shooting stars before and this looked nothing like that. It went straight across the sky and was as bright as lightening. It has left me curious as to what it might have been. I'm sure other drivers saw it as well. Could this be related to the mass UFO sightings in the area that same night?
