Amazing Video of "Jellyfish" Lightning in the Caribbean

• When: September 18th, 2016
• Where: Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico
• What: Identified - Jellyfish-shaped large lighting "sprite" preceded by a bright flash of light
  

According to Spaceweather.com, really amazing light show was filmed in the Caribbean the other night by local Frankie Lucena. In the footage below, you can see a still sky full of stars and then a bright ball of light appears and flashes right before a giant jellyfish-shaped lightning strike occurs. According to scientists, these types of lightning strikes are really called "sprites," electrical discharges that occur above the clouds and can can create beautiful images:

All the images in this video were captured by crew members aboard the International Space Station. I was able to obtain these images by doing a grid search using various dates and selecting locations that would be favorable to capture these types of events. To learn more about Transient Luminous

Several days before this event, UFOs were caught on camera in a lightning storm near Italy, with some speculating the objects could be natural ball lightning.
