Artificial Intelligence Finds Evidence for Alien Life - Should We Worry About AI Communicating with Aliens?
It seems that every other month, there is a "new" news story about alien signals being detected in our galaxy. This time around, however, artificial intelligence is getting the credit for the discovery!
Breakthrough Initiatives was founded by investor and philanthropist Yuri Milner, who was - interestingly enough - named after the cosmonaut Yuri Gargarin (a somewhat controversial figure, due to conspiracy theories about his death), and is partially funded by none other than Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg.
Breakthrough Initiatives is currently making headlines as it has detected alien signals coming from deep space, 72 in all! By applying machine learning to data that the Green Bank Telescope collected, the team was able to find repeating, fast radio bursts (FRBs) that so far cannot be explained.
Theories about its origin include black holes, neutron stores, and yes... alien technology.
Believe it or not, this is not the first time AI has been used to search for alien life and has found compelling evidence for its existence. NASA has also used artificial intelligence for this purpose, and continues to do so today.
What do you think? Is this just another exciting story that will eventually fade out, like all the others, or is UFO and Alien Disclosure coming to a neighborhood near you?
What do you think of mankind's increased reliance on artificial intelligence? Should we worry about what the consequences will be if AI does find aliens? Could the AI eventually "evolve" to communicate with the aliens, on our behalf? Engineer and entrepreneur Elon Musk has spoken out publicly many times about his sobering concerns about AI.
