The History Channel's hotly-anticipated series, "Project Blue Book," premiered this week to an impressive 3.1 million viewers (making it one of the network's top premiers ever) and a pretty positive, if not cool reception online. Some viewers became instant fans, while others were underwhelmed or even took issue with the series being a work of fiction, versus a documentary. However, most the reviews and comments online were hopeful about the next episode.
FBI.gov currently houses a number of intriguing UFO files (many formerly top-secret) that reveal the US Air Force's nonfiction interest and investigations into the UFO phenomenon. Project Blue Book was one of these investigative groups, and in fact, it was preceded by the top-secret Project Sign and Project Grudge. As recently as December 2017, the New York Times revealed that the Pentagon followed in the footsteps of Project Blue Book, and still considers UFOs to be real, and a potentially real, extraterrestrial threat.
The History Channel series focuses on the cases from the 50s and 60s that Project Blue Book founder, and so-called "father of ufology" J. Allen Hynek would have been close to, like the "Lubbock Lights," but reportedly has plenty of fantasy mixed in. Hynek is the main character in the show, and he's played by Aidan Glenn, famous for playing "Littlefinger" in "Game of Thrones." As with any good scifi drama, the UFO and alien-pursuing Hynek needs a skeptical foil. Enter Captain Michael Quinn, played by Michael Malarkey from "The Vampire Diaries." January 4th, 2019 Update: TexasUFOs has received incredible, new witness testimony that corroborates this article (scroll down to read the original one). According to a witness who would like to be known as "2005," dozens of bright silver flying saucers were seen flying over Waco, Texas (specifically at the address of 2005 South 7th Street) on May 16th, 1954, just a few months before the event that I featured on this site more than a year ago:
Wow playing in the backyard of my family's home I looked up and observe over 30 flying saucers flying in a V shape formation. This was not the first time that I and other kids in the neighborhood so these UFOs it was very common especially late at night to see them streaking across the night sky. Now that I'm older I think they were observing the goings-on James Connally Air Force Base. I never was afraid because they didn't seem to pose a threat just curious I believe. There was a time in the fifties an early sixties when people set out in their yards escape the Heat and if you look up you can see all kind of strange lights in the sky.
A really phenomenal and detailed account of 30+ flying saucers flying in formation over the James Connally Air Force Base (now, a public use airport) in Waco, Texas in 1954 has just now surfaced on MUFON (case 85062). The witness wanted to take a picture of the event, but as he was training to become a fighter pilot at the time, he was not able to break the line and grab a camera. Although I could not find any photos or videos of this sighting, apparently the Air Force Base was able to confirm that the UFOs were hovering at 100,000 feet and were extremely large, about 100-feet in diameter. Read the testimony: Saw thirty three 100 foot diameter flying saucers in three formations together
I was able to find two articles from the Waco Tribune from the same year (January 1954 issue) that document a local's sighting of a flying saucer in November from the year prior, and curiously enough, a news story about flying saucer-detecting cameras being installed at "60 control towers and 15 air defense sites," which matches up nicely to the witness claims that the base "had to keep detailed record of the saucers:"
What do you think of this incredible testimony? During the 1940s and 50s, there were many documented flying saucer and UFO sightings, from Roswell to the White House UFO incident; perhaps this sighting should have joined that well-known documentation.
Or could this testimony simply be a hoax, or even an overreaction to something a bit more mundane? Though this seems unlikely, as the witness wrote into MUFON anonymously and with absolutely no fanfare... share your ideas on this story in the comments below, and/or join the discussion over on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. If you remember this mass UFO sighting in Waco from the 1950s, or remember hearing about it, please help with this case and report your experience.
A mysterious blue light blanketed Queens, New York yesterday evening, and it sparked fears of an alien invasion, so much so that the local NYPD even tweeted that there was "no evidence of extraterrestrial activity" when explaining that it was actually a power plant explosion that caused the incredible light show.
That said, there were two UFO sightings that occurred in the same location and around the same time frame, according to videos uploaded to YouTube:
Despite the vast blue glow that Queens residents witnessed, and the loud bangs that also were reportedly heard during the event, there was apparently only a small fire caused by the explosion and it was put out before any firetrucks even had a chance to arrive.
Some may find the UFO sightings, and the lack of any firefighters on the scene, a little suspicious. Others may just say it's all one big coincidence. What do you think? If you live in California, Oregon, or Nevada, there's a good chance that you enjoyed a surprising and mysterious light show this past Wednesday evening, one that NASA believes was the result of a meteor. However, according to tweets directed at NASA, and a MUFON report that may show a UFO alongside the light, some people aren't buying the official NASA story. Besides aliens, a missile or rocket launch has also been offered up as an explanation. Some have even linked the event to the equally mysterious news story about drones shutting down a London airport. MUFON UFO report:
[MUFON report 97120] Tweets to NASA about meteor really being a UFO:
More photos and and a video of the event:
AMSMeteors.org also received a myriad of reports:
What do you think people saw over their heads on Wednesday night? Was a meteor, like NASA and other sources are suggesting, or something else, like a missile, rocket launch, or even... aliens?

If you're reading this before Christmas 2018, then there's a good chance you're engaged in some last-minute holiday shopping. And that you or someone you know believes in UFOs and aliens. Check off your list with these five cheap holiday gift ideas for the believer in your life (or just treat yourself, I won't tell anyone). All of these gifts, as of today, cost ~$20 or under (even with shipping) and can be delivered before Christmas. Maybe your spouse knows everything about Roswell, you've got a kiddo who's really into space and science fiction, or you're just looking for a creative "White Elephant" gift for your office Christmas party. Whatever the case, check out these fun, affordable, last-minute ideas for UFO and alien believers:
1. UFO/Alien Coffee Mug
It requires a lot of energy to stay up all night reading about UFOs and aliens. So chances are, the believer in your life drinks coffee (or tea, at least). Luckily, for the tinfoil hat-wearing caffeine addict, there are lot of really charming alien-themed coffee mugs out there to purchase! I have a growing collection, myself, and in fact, this green alien coffee mug with a firm handle grip is one of my favorites. That particular mug goes for $16 and up, though, and I couldn't find any fast or free shipping options. That said, there is this super cute/stylish $9.99 mug (pictured above) from Spencer's that costs an additional $10 for guaranteed shipping before Christmas. Spencer's has a lot of other cool UFO/alien items that last-minute shoppers can also pick up in store!
2. UFO/Alien Podcast Subscription
There may have been a time when it was hard to research UFOs and aliens. However, these days, everybody and their dog has a podcast discussing the topic. Okay, that's not exactly true, but the point is there is wealth of paranormal entertainment and education out there! Coast to Coast AM, for example, offers up the "Coast Insider" monthly subscription, which gives members access to current shows on-demand, as well as the last five years of shows, a direct e-mail address to host George Noory, and other perks. The best part is it only costs $6.95 a month and there is no hassle or shipping! A full year costs $54.95, however, and the subscription will auto renew, so be careful with your wallet on that one. Other online paranormal subscriptions that the believer in your life may appreciate include GAIA, which has plans starting from $20 for 3 months, as well as number of smaller, but high-quality podcasts/shows offering member benefits (like fellow UFO researcher Ryan Sprague or YouTube channels like UFOSeekers).
3. UFO/Alien Book
The believer in your life is probably also a reader. While they may have already consumed classic UFO and alien books like Erich von Daniken's "Chariots of the Gods" or Whitley Strieber's "Communion," they may not have caught up on more recently published books, like "Ancient AliensĀ®: The Official Companion Book" (I have this one and it's fun to flip through), which costs just $17.00 on Amazon right now and has free one-day shipping for Prime members. "Ancient Aliens" fans may also enjoy creative gifts like this $3.30 "Ancient Aliens" coloring book on Barnes & Noble or this "Ancient Aliens" $11.60 mouse pad on Zazzle.com, all so far available for delivery before Christmas! I, personally, would be really into getting a book like "UFO Drawings from the National Archives by David Clarke," which is currently available for $18.63 on ebay.com, with free shipping. You can order an audio book as an even cheaper gift option if you're really on a budget. Finally, don't forget to look for those UFO and alien books at your local used book store. Some really great titles can be purchased for very cheap if you keep an eye out!
4. UFO/Alien Wear
From hats to hoodies to earrings to fuzzy slippers, there are so many stylish ways to show that you are a believer. However, it can be hard to shop for clothing as a gift as there's always the risk of getting the size wrong. The fuzzy alien slippers pictured above, however, will comfortably fit onto most feet. (I have a pair and they are on the smaller size, but even my husband who wears normal men's shoe size can fit into them.) The price for these slippers is $24.95, however if you're an Amazon prime member, shipping is fast and free and so that makes a big difference. Another alien/UFO-themed clothing line I really love is Saucer Los Angeles, which has everything from hoodies to hats to $19 beanies, and there's a chance you can get your order before the holidays. Hot Topic also has a lot of awesome "spacey" styles and accessories, like these $7.90 alien hair clips, $8.95 alien earbuds, or these $18.99 pair of alien swim trunks! You can shop in store (though be sure to call ahead to see if what you're looking for is available), and also, Hot Topic is offering some items for delivery before Christmas - if you act now!
5. UFO/Alien Notebook or Calendar
The believer in your life may be counting down until Disclosure, the day that the truth about UFOs and aliens will finally be revealed to us all. Help them count down with a beautiful alien-themed calendar for 2019. There are a few options out there, but this $19.99 one on Etsy is one the cooler-looking ones I found, and right now, 2 to 3-day shipping is still available. An alien/UFO-themed notebook or journal is also a great gift idea. Many journals I found were somewhat feminine looking, but there are some great-looking, chicer, more neutral, $12.50 designs on Redbubble.com - like this "UFO in dark night" spiral notebook and this "Ancient Aliens Theorist" spiral!
