South of El Paso, a Texan driving home saw a bright orange object in the sky - except it was no star; it was moving fast and leaving a trail of exhaust behind. It then brightened up real fast and disappeared, with the lights on the witness' car mysteriously turning off at that time. He was able to turn them back on fortunately, but was so shaken by the experience, they quickly called a friend to let them know what happened. Read the testimony and listen to the voice mail (submitted to MUFON) here: I was leaving my girlfriend's house in Socorro, TX at 2:30 a.m. on May 2, 2015, heading back to the main street from her subdivision, when I noticed a bright orange circle in the night sky. I was travelling westbound and the object was traveling towards me in a southeastern direction. The circle first appeared just to be a star or maybe a meteorite given the clear night sky, but it began to grow in brightness and then I noticed what appeared to be a conical exhaust coming out from the bottom of the object, which is unlike a plan that would have the exhaust visible behind it, not underneath it. I had lit a cigarette and had my windows rolled down but I heard no noise to accompany what I was witnessing in the sky. Here's the voice mail the witness left for a friend, depicting the event, if you prefer audio:
There have been lots of descriptions of lights in the sky taking off into the stratosphere (something planes, drones, stars, and meteors don't do); could this be related?
