"Explosion Sounds Heard by Families in Homes in Harris County Area"

Mysterious booming sounds were heard by many living in Houston, according to recent testimony sent to NUFORC (case 137395):

At around midnight 11/05/2017, explosion sounds heard by families in homes in Harris County area. News reported nothing whilst neighborhood website shows reports of sounds of war bombings, two witnesses reported seeing a flashing red light and moments later a flashing red light appearing to illuminate the sky.

Apparently multiple witnesses heard the explosive sounds, and some even saw flashes of light as well, but there was no mainstream news coverage of any of it. I did indeed have trouble tracking down any supporting articles or witness reports.

However, unusual booming sounds have been a phenomenon experienced throughout the world over the past several years. Could this be part of that strange eerie trend, indicating earth changes like earthquakes, or  even visitations by alien spaceships? Or is there a simpler explanation, like fighter jets or construction?
