Hearing is Believing - Strange Sounds Reported Over Texas

With the recent and amazing news stories about fighter jets causing sonic booms to rattle South Carolina, New Jersey and New York, it might be a good time to reach out to Texans again about what they're hearing in the sky these days.

A few years ago, people all over Texas reported hearing a haunting - and even irritating - humming and/or rumbling sound. Half a year later, strange sounds captivated Texans again, but this time the sounds were higher pitched - more of a trumpeting.

People have been reporting strange things they've heard in the sky ever since, though. Read the blog comments below, which detail both booming and humming sounds:

I live in temple and have been hearing it for a couple of years. I last for a couple of minutes and stops as quick as it starts. It has to be under ground. They say that there are underground tunnels all over the US, that use supersonic trains. There are even articles of nuclear powered tunnel diggers all rhe way back to the late 50'S. I have thought about it a lot, and cannot imagine what else it could be.

I've been hearing the same noise in Harlingen, Tx. I think it sounds like a drone or blimp. It sounds like a pulsating airplane sound. I can't sleep because of it. Government wants us to die of sleeplessness!

I heard this noise early this morning around 1:45 a.m. I was outside letting my dog out. It was loud and as it got louder and louder I asked myself "how much louder can this get? My ears hurt!!!" It probably lasted for 45 seconds maybe. No lights in the sky but it sounded like a huge plane was about to crash into my house. I was thinking "well..This is it!!" My dog was going crazy too. I couldn't hear her howl/bark cause the noise was so loud. My daughter woke up not happy when I went back in the house. She was sleepy and kind of out of it but she felt the shaking of the house. I don't think she heard the noise though. I'm deaf in one ear. I'm adding that because it seems from what I've read that not everyone can hear this?! Very strange. My husband thought maybe a plane had to make an emergency landing at the nearby (small) airport, when I told him. I've lived on a military base for 4 years in the past and I've heard jets (jets that were breaking the sound barrier!) And huge C-130 planes etc. landing a and taking off right on the base where I lived. There were constant fly-bys by many aircraft, however, nothing was ever this loud and hurt my ear!! I have had the house shake before too but not like this. I'm stumped.

My husband and myself, along with our son keep hearing this loud - annoying - dull kind of hum. It's loud from our sons window. It's loud inside the house. We went looking for it at 3 a.m. this morning because it's so loud. It wasn't the freezer. It was the frig. It wasn't the heater or ac. We can't find the noise? It's most definitely louder from the inside of our house. It really sounds like a big truck running to warm up or something down the street, but there is not one there.

Also, it was just this past month when loud booms and even a light quake was reported in the Corpus Christi area. Was this caused by fighter jets as well?

I hear it now....thought it was thunder. But now is a steady rumble. Hurting my ears, they feel under pressure.

Sarah, that is very much like what we heard in January 2015. We did see lights, but not while it was overhead. The dogs around here were going crazy, too. Lexington, TX

I lived in Midland Tx from 1979 to 1986. I heard a sound like a semi truck running in the distance. I would go outside at night and try to locate it but could not find it. No one else ever heard it. I was told I was imaging it or I was crazy. The only time it quit was when I went at least 200 miles east of Midland. I am glad to know I am not the only one to hear this.

I am in Irving and these past few nights I'm woken up by what sounds like a rig parked on my street- like.. In front of my house!! The noise begins around 4 andits7:40 almost and the noise hasn't stopped.
To be fair, I do live a few miles from DFW and I have seen a few planes, but it's a consistent sound and gets louder randomly and not even at the exact times a plane is overhead. I've lived here for a long time so I cannot imagine that it has been this noise this really in morning and I'm barely deciding search!

Early months of 2017, I heard the same thing after midnight. It was around 3am. It sounded like a constant roaring sound up above the house. Everyone has described it as a semi truck running outside...and that's what I'm the sound resembled....but it sounded like it was right outside my window. There were no big trucks on my block. After about 11 minutes, the sound finally started to sound like it was getting further and further away until finally I couldnt hear it. I was too frightened to step outside and check it out. But I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I hear the hum sound several nights a week, after 12-midnight. If I wake-up in the middle of the night between 12 - 4, I hear it. Low humming sound with a slight wave to it. Almost as if a twin engine prop plane is sitting on the tarmac with its engines running.

This loud hum at night has been driving me insane since around last March. Twice in the pre-dawn hours my dog and I have driven around Lexington area to locate the origin.
I cannot find what it making this dreadful droning sound. It's so loud tonight I can't think much less sleep!
I drove into Alcoa plant on 696 to inquire. They acted totally ignorant of any noises emanating from their site. They suggested I go ask their facility on Hwy 77. I haven't yet.
This has got to stop!!!

I have been hear that noise too around the same time at night! We live in Houston by Antoine and I-10 intersection. This month (March 2017), it was so loud it woke my husband and I up and almost seemed to get progressively louder at some points. It was not the usual hum of I-10. We opened the windows and it was incredibly loud outside, but no clear source for the noise; all I could say was that it was coming from the south and moving north. I moved to my daughter's room on the northside of the home in order to sleep, where the sound was less prominent. My ears still hurt from the low frequency hum. has anyone else experienced something like this?

So ,I wrote about the humming sound back on 01/28/2017, and since then I've moved to Manvel, TX (Aug 3rd). Now I hear it ALL THE TIME! It sounds the same as when I reported it back in Jan 2017, but now it's constant. I've checked everywhere inside and outside my house, and I can't figure out where it's coming from.

From midnight to about 7 or 8 am this droning sounds goes on.
Who can tell us what's going on in Lee County? How many of us are being harassed by this social nuisance?
If I could find out the direction it is. All that is in Lexington downtown in pre-dawn hours is this loud roar from the eighteen wheelers hauling down Hwy 77.
Who will know? Who can we ask- the JP, County judge, Sheriff?
It has got to stop!

I hear a rumbling sound in Summerwood off Beltway 8 and West Lake Houston. Its not the usual air traffic noise. It's sounds like jet engines powered at high speed on a tarmac. I notice the noise after 10pm and last throughout the night.

I have a theory that tbese sounds are associated with Gangstalking. I also believe that Gangstalkers use tbe same type of technology that was used in tbe attacks on US Diplomats in Cuba and China. I theorize it is some type of acoustic and EM interference that involves hacking your mind to listen to your thougbts and influence a person's ID.

I live in Houston area close to the Woodlands and I have been hearing these same sounds and humming for months It is alway between 4-7 am. It is the loudest I have ever heard it this morning.At this time it has been 30 minutes and counting, It is so loud i can hear over the music Iam playing. This is the first time I feel a reverb on the ground and a pressure in my head. The skies are always pretty clear when I hear these rumbling, humming noises.
