"It was massive, that's what I can't get over" - Large Gray Craft Seen Over Georgetown, Texas

3/20/2017

  • When: February 27th, 2017
  • Where: Georgetown
  • What: Extremely large, intimidating craft, shaped similar to pentagon
March 20th, 2017 Update: An additional witness has also commented about a similar sighting in the same location several nights later. I am still trying to get more info. In the meantime, the witness to this event has followed up with more detail about this UFO sighting, including a drawing of the UFO:
"It was big, which I tried to explain, it was drab to look at if it weren't so damn big. It didn't dance. No one shot me with a ray gun, no blinking lights, no aliens to talk to, no details to the object. It didn't look cool like on Star Wars. It didn't move around. And then left when I glanced away. ,,, (the UFO was) very big off-sized square object either dark gray or charcoal only visible for a few seconds"

Original story 3/2/2017:
TexasUFOs received a report from a  reader who witnessed a "massive," "chalky black" craft that seemed to disappear as quickly as it appeared. Read the detailed testimony sent to the site by witness "Old Pirate," who felt a very dark feeling during the event and even called 911 after it was over:
Distance: About 5,000 feet [altitude].
Shape: irregular pentagon(ish)
Size: be sitting down. W (approx) 520 m - L 770 m - D (approx) 80 m
My dimensions are based on comparing it to the visual and size of a 747 at 5,000 feet (about the same altitude
Color: medium gray or light chalky black (I wouldn't call it shiny)

It was about 7:30 or just after or about dusk this evening. It was straight up and impossible to miss. It was.. umm.. I have no words. Stunned doesn't do it justice. Shocked, excited, afraid, celebratory. None of those are even close. Actually I was awe-struck and before my mind could wrap around what I was looking at, it was over. The shape just doesn't compute when you think about something that could fly. The size doesn't make sense with anything but (I hate to say it) a space movie. I saw no windows, no lights, no cool attachments like a Star Wars millennium falcon. Indescribable comes to mind. It was massive, that's what I can't get over. Just so massive. I could see jets (we're not far from an airport and get lots of high altitude fly-by's). I estimate the jets were about 15,000 feet. This thing was around 5,000 feet but still gigantic. The dogs are what got my attention. They were barking at the door insanely, like there was an intruder. They'd stick their head out the doggy door but with great trepidation and ready to to reverse quickly. They were going nuts, bet terrified. I have an English bulldog and a chocolate lab and a (bravest in the bunch) Schmitz-zu. Anyway I went to check it out with a cup of coffee as my weapon. They followed me out, quietly at first, and with obvious trepidation (once again.)
it wasn't quite dark and I couldn't see anything but clear sky and early skies. I was facing the Big Dipper (a little lower in the skyline, almost at the horizon). All three dogs started barking again but they're looking straight up. I looked up also, and there it was. Big as a factory. Just sitting there. For lack of a better description - I wasn't processing, but trying to remember how to process. I was trying to remember how to think. It was just so huge. I looked away at the jets for context and looked back again. And it just sat there. I just stared at it, maybe five seconds, and diverted my eyes again for an owl that flew right in front of me (a big one) which in of itself is like spotting Bigfoot in the city. Is that bad luck? I glanced back up, and it was gone. Not a trace. If I'd of had a camera focused and ready, knew right where it was gonna be.. I still couldn't have taken a picture. It looked so close I could almost touch it (because it was so damn big) but I could tell it was about half altitude of passing jets. I had the IQ of a vegetable. I was just trying to remember how to think. It was just so fucking huge. Some car alarms went off, the dogs quit barking and the giant owl flew away. I was just standing there like an idiot. I came back in the house and sat down (my wife was watching the voice) and I didn't say a thing. Didn't know how to articulate it. Didn't think she'd believe me anyway because I'm always screwing with her. (And didn't want to scare her either).
My biggest memory (or most vivid) is weight. I just felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders that 5-7 seconds and for awhile when I came back in. Hard to explain, but grave weight like how someone with their finger on the nuclear launch button must feel trying to wrap his mind around and order to commit, but not confident in the competence of his command. Tremendous weight. But nothing political like my example or even clear in any way to me. Just weight. Dark not fun weight. Unbelievable responsibility. This lasted about five minutes. Plus I had the shakes like a junkie and have the ashes on the floor rug to prove it.
Finally after that maybe five or ten minutes, I talked to my wife about it (after swearing her to secrecy). I called 911 and the sheriffs office to see if there were any reports. There were none and I didn't make one either. And now, I'm just confused and losing confidence in myself. I'm writing this for some cathartic self analysis, not because I expect a response.
I got no pic. No video. No witnesses (unless you speak bark or arf). And I'm not even excited like I always thought I would be. I still have this confusion. It's like there's something I'm supposed to remember about it but when I think about it, I feel that weight again so I quickly try not to think about it. It's an internal battle. (I'm not crazy as I sound)
Anyway, thanks for the self analysis. Send me a bill. After reading my note I prescribe a Valium and a heavy dose of "never tell anyone."
Before tonight if you had asked me if I had seen a UFO I'd of answered yes. I've seen objects sitting still and shooting off. Satellites that stopped then went another way. But I didn't see a UFO. I saw anomalies. possibilities, and the explainable. Now if you asked me if I've seen a UFO - I'd say no. My story is to big to tell. To real to tell. Absolute positive witnessing to tell. I know I've seen a UFO because I can't tell anybody. That's how you know. And if I did say I saw a UFO, I'd refer to my early [acceptable] experiences, and not this one.
Based on the size and description of this craft, there may have been other witnesses. Did you also see this UFO? Report your sighting.

So you saw a giant craft and the most details you provide are about where the big dipper is, your coffee, how you felt, and how your dogs reacted? Too much detail in everything but the UFO. I'm not saying I dont believe you, but if I saw this, wouldnt give 2 shi*s about anything other then the craft (Presumably)

And for the record, it wasn't a triangle. It's was an out of square square. Whatever that is. I didn't take geometry. Is rudimentary geometry required for a sighting?

There was another sighting last night 3/2/2017 in Georgetown and someone actually got a video of it. Its on a Georgetown buy, sell, and trade page.

You're welcome to put link here or send privately to Texasufosightings@gmail.com. I'd love to hear more about it even if you don't have link, too.

I agree Matt, story at least written sounds hard to believe. Of course some people can't put down in writing what they saw. So I am not convinced that this happened.

I'm replying to everyone at once. I didn't write it to get published on the internet. I thought I was reporting it to mufon. I described the object as best I could. It was big, which I tried to explain, it was drab to look at if it weren't so damn big. It didn't dance. No one shot me with a ray gun, no blinky lights, no aliens to talk to, no details to the object. It didn't look cool like on Star Wars. It didn't move around. And then left when I glanced away. I got nothing for you other than that. The most interesting thing about it was it's size. I don't care if anyone believes me. I just wanted to know if anyone else reported it. It was pretty hard to miss. The best thing I can tell you is, "if you think you've seen a UFO, you probably haven't." There was no denying this thing. So I'm confident in what I witnessed. I'm not trying to sell tickets to my back yard or sell coffee. I was just excited and needed to talk. I wasn't about to tell my wife and so after the police had nothing, I googled the website. I did end up telling my wife, but after I wrote mufon. Since there wasn't a lot of detail to the object itself, I was left by describing the details of my evening. And rambling. Like right now.

It's not a matter of being believed. I was just looking for witnesses. With them, I could have an honest conversation. Without them, I'll just take it to the grave.

Everyone was quick to criticize but slow when challenged. What's up with you guys? You judge a report based on writing skill (or lack thereof?) I didn't mean for this to go on the internet - but now I'm glad it did. Y'all don't want to know the truth. You deal in dissolution and an arrogant implantation of doubt. You like flashing lights and Colin Cantwell skilled imagination and fantastic detail that just doesn't exist.
You sit in judgement like arrogant McCarthy acolytes. You have no.. guaranteed... without question.. sure as fire.. goddamn straight.. you saw one yourself... story, which by the way, is very comforting.
So you judge. You critique. You impugn the character of total strangers. You will never know the truth, because it will never match the dialogue planted in your preconceived notion religion of high standards based on nothingness.
Maybe it's just trolling? Maybe y'all don't give a damn. Maybe you just surf for sightings so can condescendingly humiliate the person and achieve some smug victory. The truth is banal and FAST. It will never be lizard people renting a spare room and working nights in their underground human genome lab at your grandmas house built on mysterious caves and a graveyard. It will never be a near survivor "half in and half out" of a flying saucer fighting for their very life with every bit of hysterical adrenaline they could muster. It will never be anything but unremarkable. Fast, but banal. I have seen what there is to see. I know what there is to know. That's enough. This frustrating reply might be just what you need to pile on, smugly denounce my sanity, or frame a personal attack based on my "lack of articulation."
But this isn't a "you got me" reply. This is utter disappointment. This is why the legitimate stories remain a secret. Not worth telling. Not worth the rhetorical analysis of your credibility. Not worthy of other fantastic stories that are better suited for a movie pitch than an actual sighting. Something more interesting. You are THE community I should be able to rely on. A place where I find confederates. Idealists. The open-minded. Listeners. Instead...
Well... it's utter waste. It's... judgement. That being said..

I believe someone in Brazil was kidnapped last night and lifted by amazing gravitation expulsion radiation and then once on-board he had sex toys shoved deep into his colon. Then they used mitochondrial DNA to create a sentient clone they shot back to earth in a pod so they could take the human (now who will nwver be missed) back into another dimension along with a cow, three slim jims, a pogo stick, and a pair of Levi's they took also. Witnesses say it was shapechanger ship that went from round to triangle in a calculated order that most certainly was a message. As it shapeshifted glowing hypnotic red and green lights flickered (I believe in Morse code) and as they flickered, an entire city block experienced a temporary blackout. As they were leaving you could barely see a talk thin gray figure with large almond eyes standing near the portal and with arms so skinny they made Kate Moss look like Melissa McCarthy, he lifted his gray alien hand to the portal and with two (of his three) alien fingers with suckers on the tips (probably for grabbing asteroids and planting the gift of life for other worlds) placed them on the portal and (may God strike me dead) made the peace sign as he quickly split the fabric of time and entered another dimension. It was at this time it became a majestic burning light and (changing colors so fast the human eye couldn't understand what it was seeing) it turned into an orb (a blue one) and moved - darting from one side of the landscape to the other at such blinding speed all you could calculate - was that it wasn't human machinery. All the while flashing all the colors of the rainbow brighter and faster, brighter and faster until It went up and down a couple times (the g-force would have turned a human being into salad dressing), turned purple and yellow, and then hurled into space at such incredible speed, that within the blink of an eye, you couldn't tell the difference from the craft, and a normal nighttime star. We've got to find that pod!

Y'all should cut people some slack. In your zeal to be defenders of the "rarely credible." You're probably brushing aside the real thing, and never even knowing it. We don't have to be believed. That was never the point. We're just looking for that one in the crowd that we can talk to about it. Man, what a relief that would be.

Better?

Wow, this (over) reaction is ridiculous. I sicerely hope that you did see a UFO, and would hope to be able to discuss that with you. I am merely pointing out that there is very little in the way of info about the UFO itself. Seems more like a creative writing project. Your response does little to disprove my theory. Also, did not criticize our character at all, but you certainly did to us. Hypocrite

Sorry. I didn't know I was going to be on the internet and felt a bit betrayed. The reason you don't tell people something like this is because of the responses from people like y'all. I have my way of talking about things. I'm not a professional UFO reporter. Besides. If I just reported the detail of the object it would be one sentence, which y'all would also say "it's not believable someone would see something like that and only have one sentence." And I'd be in the same boat on the same scale of "unbelievability." Here's the actual report,

Sighted very big off-sized square object either dark gray or charcoal only visible for a few seconds then disappeared.

That's not believable either and that is all the detail there is. So they should have told me it was going on the internet because had I known we wouldn't be having a conversation, because I knew it wasn't believable. All I was doing was trying to see if there were other reports of the same thing. That was my only goal. Not to be believed. And certainly not to be judged.

Can they delete this?? I think that's the best way to handle it.

Here is a sketch I did almost immediately after seeing it. You will note it's quite unremarkable. I'm not trying to sell you on believing me. I'm just showing you why my description was also rather brief. (And I don't even remember mentioning my coffee) hope this works...

Ok. I call for a truce. I appreciate where you are coming from trying to just find other witnesses. Have seen some weird stuff in the sky that I would have wanted the same thing. Please dont regret reporting. Sometimes its best to explain to skeptics in order to clarify your point/reasoning. In this case I critiqued because I wanted more info/am also sick of bs reporting. May have been harsh and I offer olive branch for that.

No worries. You feel pretty naked being thrown out into the internet and the door locked behind you. I may have have been a tad defensive. Peace out. ;)

Fred, Back in the early sixties a college roommate came back from the Thanksgiving break with a story about something he saw wile hunting between Cotulla & Carrizo Springs. He could not fully explain what he saw, and he had difficulties speaking about what he saw. This guy was super smart (he had a major industry changing patent before he graduated from college). He was VP of a major oil company before he died. Neither he nor I know what he saw, but he saw something he never was able to explain. Decades later, a co worker told me about seeing the same thing about 200+ miles east south east & a few years later of where my roommate saw what he saw. . His reaction was the same. I posted this on the National UFO Reporting Center website. The posting is for November in 1963, 64, or 65 under two deer hunting experiences.
