7/8 UPDATE: This is not the only UFO sighting like this from June 30th. Read more.

While I love keeping up with the latest and greatest shooting stars to pass over our heads, I don't typically report on them here, as they are identified. However, on occasion I do read a meteor report that feels a little "off." And that's what I'm sharing here.

Someone reported seeing a fireball larger than an aircraft fall apart, but they were amazed by how big and strange the event was - it seemed much more dramatic than anything they'd seen on YouTube.

Read the full report, submitted to AMSMeteors.org:

it was a strange experience that left me feeling very privileged to have witnessed it. the size and scope of the fireball appeared to me to be much larger than those i have viewed online.

was very brite and on fire, with a brite , trailing flame. from my south facing positionon my back porch it traveled quickly from east to west. it appeared to be on a downward trajectory before i lost sight of it do to my roof. i live 10 miles west of dfw airport and am used to low flying aircraft. i would guess this fireball flew by at 10-20,000 feet and was still quite a bit larger than the airliners that fly overhead daily at only a few hundred feet.
