A bright fireball was reported over Austin, with the witness believing it to be an unidentified flying object, according to Fox 7 News. The witness Rachel Jensen said she saw three lights forming a triangle that then separated: "Just as I stepped out, I looked to the sky and saw the triangle. Just as it was separating into three. Well there was one in the front and two behind it. They were bright orange, glowing, almost fiery," says Jensen.
Although Fox 7 News linked the sighting to meteor reports in the area, and even included a photo of a streak of light over Downtown Austin photographed around the same time, the truth is there wasn't an especially large amount of meteor activity logged and the lights the witness is describing could probably be better explained as Chinese lanterns or flares or even fireworks versus space rocks! But, as always, you be the judge. What do you think?
