Not a Satellite, says NASA Employee - Big Ball of Light Over Houston

  • When: April 6th, 2013
  • Where: League City (in between Galveston and Houston)
  • What: Ball of light, as bright as Jupiter, floating across the sky
We've got quite an intriguing UFO report to, well, report and it's one of those sightings that you really, really wish was captured on camera, because it sounds like a doozey. And unmistakably bright ball of light was spotted in the night sky and tracked through a telescope. The witness' roommate works at NASA and was able to see the UFO and confirm that it was not a satellite. And indeed, no satellites were over the area on that night. Also, no fireball or meteor reports for the area, either.

This UFO showed up a day after another pretty amazing sighting in Houston, where 12 UFOs formed a triangle in the sky. Could these events be related?

Here's the full MUFON report:
I had just set my telescope up in the back yard and was observing Jupiter. I started looking around for something else and observed this bright white object moving from SW to NE in a straight line and initially thought it was a satellite but it was far too bright to be a satellite. I started tracking it through my telescope. It was not an airplane of any sort because it was too far up and had no flashing lights or distinct shape except for being a big ball of light. I went inside and grabbed my roommate (who works at NASA and doesn't believe in the UFO phenomenon) and even he stated that it wasn't a satellite. It did not do anything extraordinary, just kind of floated across the sky until it hit the horizon. It was as bright as Jupiter, if not a little more. You couldn't have missed it if you were looking into the sky. I observed it for approximately 2 minutes before it went out of my sight. The time of the sighting was at about 8:30pm CST.

i have seen 5 times over a year in the same area a burst of bright white led like light then dims to a blue light as bright as a star and then moves fast and then disappears. this is in the upper ne sky anytime from 9p-12a cst as i have been out looking up
i reside in houston texas and this is not a satellite according to online satellite trackers but could be a military one that is not publicly known. i would think all of the sightings in the same vicinity is more like a satellite because the white light burst is 3x brighter then the ISS and then dims to a star magnitude of any normal one and is small enough to make me think it is that high or higher up
