![]() Red Lights Over Texas City Remember those Texas City lights we reported on? Well, the verdict is still out as to what they were. All kinds of speculation has hit the web, and they've even piqued the interest of the Department of Homeland Security. From RC planes to road flares to Chinese lanterns, the latest idea is that it was a prank. Of course that's always a possibility in the UFO world, but that's a hasty and lazy conclusion. Aliens or not, "hoax" is quite the cop out when you don't have any evidence whatsoever of that. Here's a local report on the sighting: From the story: The bottom line -- neighbors say they want some answers about this strange sighting. So we talked to Texas City's Homeland Security Director Bruce Clawson. Continued... He said, "No, no aliens that we know of."
Clawson's been reviewing video and looking into reports of the strange sighting. He says investigators have already ruled out alien activity. "You know the hidden agenda here is UFO," Clawson explained. "The lights weren't what normally gets reported. They didn't move in concert, they didn't move fast. They moved very slow and drifted." Clawson says the lights appear to be nothing more than a big prank. And curious neighbors are laughing it off. James said, "Just a little excitement." The homeland security director says someone was playing a practical joke. When we asked if that person would face any punishment or criminal charges, Clawson said no, not at this time. " Some interesting comments: by shad0wburn3d: What these media dumb ass's don't understand, is that anything flying at that height, will fly extremely out of control, due to wind sped and pressure!, And nothing, not even a Kite, will stay steady at that level. Get out and just try it. Enough Said. Maybe, it will take a video with a 1000ft spool of line and a diamond kite, along with a splice of video comparison to argue this fact, so both the MEDIA and the PEOPLE can discern fact from fiction. Cheers! by edfeltch: Come on people, stop getting excited about slow moving ,multiple red lights. That scenario just doesn't wash in comparison to the historical record on sightings. As in the case of Rendlesham these ET craft rarely just slowly pass by until out of sight, they either remain motionless or are seen performing incredible turns at speeds that boggle. So please stop promoting these "lights in the sky" cases, the lowbrow segment of ufology. by sonofnadd:Yeah, road flare excuse sounds as dumb as actual aliens. My money says kites. I know some kiters, and night flying w/ t' requisite lights is t' newest trend. LOL if tru.

I have seen this same thing in Alabama. A good friend has seen it in Kentucky. It isn't kites for sure--and I really don't think it's man made. Strikes me as a natural phenomena of some sort. I don't see why it has to be fast moving, or perform complex maneuvers to qualify as an interesting thing.
