Sky Lanterns Make Formations? - Dallas

Video of sky lanterns, AKA Chinese lanterns, on New Years Eve has been uploaded to YouTube - so why is it it being featured here? Because they may not actually be sky lanterns... watch how at the :15 mark, the floating, twinkling orbs start to shrink in number and then form a triangle. Are these just lanterns or flares caught in the wind, or something stranger, considering their behavior and speed? The witnesses can be heard on camera having this very debate. As always, you be the judge:

me and my boyfriend were walking along turtle creek in dallas tonight when these things flew above us ......very very strange , if you get any info please lemme know , thx . we also obtained footage and I plan on uploading the footage over night and should be expected on youtube sometime tomorrow ,
