Spooky Red Flame Hovers Over Galveston - Many Witnesses

Multiple people witnessed a very, very peculiar sight in the western sky - a glowing, fiery red light stationary in the sky. Another Texan saw a fiery red light suspended in the sky in Alvin (also in Houston area), as well, the night previous. Could this be related?

Not to mention, people all over the world have been perplexed by a glowing red star they've been seeing in the Western sky, but this doesn't quite sound like the same thing.

A friend and I are staying at the Holiday Inn next to the San Luis Resort. We were woken just before midnight by loud neighbors in the room next to us.

When I went out onto the balcony to see what was going on, the people (4 - 5 in one room an several others peeking out from other rooms below us) were looking out to the western sky at a strange glowing light.

The light was extremely large but very narrow and perpendicular in the sky. It was slightly to the right of the moon but about midway between the moon and the horizon.

The best way I can describe it is it was red/orange in color and acted like a flame. Grew and decreased in intensity. However, it didn't appear to be taller or shorter, just more/less intense. Then we noticed the sky under this light had a red glow or haze under it.

Several people in the hotel witnessed this. I also called the Galveston PD Non Emergency Number - they said they had gotten reports. It's not hazardos and not their jurisdiction.

The light disapated at about 12:50. I could still see the glow of red in the sky but not as intense after the "flame" went away.

The flame didn't move. It was stationary. It was not flying through the sky.

My first thought was that the space station was on fire or something like that...but I doubt if it was on fire the flames would go straight up into the air and not move....????

Another thing that I thought it could have been was a flare however again - it was very high up in the air and didn't move.

No clue what this thing was but wanted to report it while it was fresh in my mind.

I have photos/video but you really can't see anything in them....all I had was my apple products....
