Did Texans glimpse the Lyrid meteor shower this month - ahead of schedule? While star gazing calendars didn't expect the Lyrids until the 22nd of April, many locals reported seeing a large, fantastic fireball on the 20th and 21st, days after other meteors were seen in other parts of the world - along with many earthquakes. Reports were sent to NUFORC and AMSMeteors.org, detailing a large fiery object in the sky, flashes of light, and power outages: San Antonio on April 21st (NUFORC): A Beautiful Rock full of different colors in the sky.
Jerrell and Laredo on April 20th (NUFORC):
Sky flashed white, then reddish orange glow for 20 seconds.
