"This did not look normal" - Strange Contrail Reported Over Canyon Lake

An interesting MUFON report (case 96887) detailing  a strange and upward contrail over Canyon Lake has just now been submitted. Do these witness photos show a simple jet contrail, or something more mysterious than that, like a missile or ET spaceship? As always, you be the judge:

Saw Contrail northeast of Canyon Lake going straight up

While traveling on the west side of Canyon Lake and looking to the northeast I saw a contrail that was going straight up. This did not look normal to the area and there was no logical reason why this was happening. I saw the contrail but the object had already gone up and out of site. The contrail lasted approximately 5 minutes. It may have come off of a portable vehicle since the contrail appeared to be above ground level.

I am a disabled veteran who served in the military and was a Direct Support SHORAD missile systems repairman. I saw numerous launches during my time of service and have actually seen ICBM traffic over McGregor Range, and its associated ranges. Therefore I am very familiar with missile launches. Even ICBMs travel cross--sky. The craft in question was very clearly going straight up. This probably was not extraterrestrial but was a fairly large missile of some kind. It also appeared to be fairly close, much less than 50 miles away. This was not the contrail of any jet airplane but clearly a missile. The question is why was it launched in this area is the unknown. I am familiar with the Space X facility near Van Horn in west Texas. This contrail was in the opposite direction.
