Triangle UFO Photographed in Hutto

12/21/2013

  • When: December 16th, 2013
  • Where: Hutto (northeast of Round Rock)
  • What: Triangle shaped "star"

A Hutto resident saw a strange "star" in the sky - except it wasn't really a star, more like a triangle shaped object just hovering there in the sky. Like many UFOs tend to do, it mysteriously disappeared. Fortunately the mother of the witness submitted a photo and secondhand account of the sighting to MUFON. Check the photo and report out below, and also compare to it recent sightings in Dallas and in and around Hutton!:

MUFON report:
I was inside watching TV when my daughter came in from outside. She told me there was a weird looking star in the sky and asked me to come outside and see it. When I went outside I did not see the object. We live underneath a very busy approach path for the Austin international airport. So she sees approching aircraft every night and knows what they look like. She describes the object as a triangle or Chevron shape object just hovering high in the sky high enough that a plane flew underneath it.she said its stay hovering there for a few seconds and when she came to get me and we both went outside it had already disappeared. She did take a picture of it with her phone and it looks like a chevron against a black sky.
Have you seen strange things in the sky in Central Texas recently? Report your sighting to TUS! As always, if you have thoughts on what this object - or these objects! - could have been, please share them in the comments.

Regarding the Hutto photo: It appears to be photoshop'ed in. I saw the technique for discovering this watching a UFO investigation show on a Mexican sighting. Basically if you save the picture, open it and zoom way in eventually you get to a big square pixilated area that appears pasting in to the black background. You can't see this zoomed out, but in close you can. If it was authentic there would be no large square shape around the ufo only the possibly pixilated image of the ufo itself. Check it for yourself and you will see what I mean.

I'm responding for two reasons. First: I just saw this same triangle or something very similar this evening, and I live just a couple of miles from the sighting posted above (I submitted my sighting to this website just a few minutes ago, my first ever sighting). I WISH I'd had the presence of mind to try to take a photo.

Second: I am a Photoshop professional. It's one of the tools I've been using daily for the past 16 years. What you describe will happen to any light source in a photograph after a while - you will see blocks that represent the gradient of light dissipation. In a photo of a light source that is far from the camera, you will see fewer pixels making up the light source, hence a more radical change between pixels next to each other which can produce what looks like a box around the image. I'm not saying you are wrong, and that the above image is not Photoshopped, but I am of the opinion that it is probably not - rather it is an amateur photo of a distant light source that can't stand up to scrutiny because there is not enough pixel detail to make a judgement call.
