A police officer (apparently) anonymously & graciously submitted a report detailing dozens of glowing lights rising up over Northeast Austin and then disappearing. The UFOs were witnessed by the officer and their partner while traveling to a call, and resemble lights photographed in Austin from last summer (see below). While Chinese lanterns are always a possibility when it comes to sightings like these, but the witness is quite credible (a police officer with a military background) and seems to have ruled out that explanation:
My partner and I were on duty responding to a call when we saw what we initially thought was a large group of helicopters. They were rising out of the Northeast area of Austin, Texas and appeared to be traveling due West and slightly South across the City. We sat in our vehicle and watched for about one minute as they continued to move. My partner started driving to our call as I began counting the lights. I saw at least 15 but it looked like there were more lower on the horizon still rising. We both noticed at that point that none of the lights were blinking like a standard aircraft beacon light would. The call we were responding to was a priority so we continued to drive South to SH-71 ,which was about 2 minutes away. We turned East bound onto the highway and looked North again to see if they were possibly headed to Camp Mabry but all of the lights had vanished. The video on your site from Austin dated 01/19/2016 is exactly what we saw, in the same rising pattern. I regret that we didn't take a photo or video when we had the chance but duty called. Our facility is near the airport and air traffic normally makes final approach out of the North to land. For the remainder of the night,we did not see a single aircraft in the Northern sky until we got off duty at midnight. All planes had been diverted and were making final approach from the South to land. I am prior military with extensive experience around helicopters and what we saw was definitely not helicopters.
