Here's somewhat of an oldie, but a goodie. I try to keep sightings on the site as fresh as possible, but with the hail storm that hit last night, I thought this one was worth posting.
Someone traveling through West Texas during a hail storm, shortly after the meteor impact in Russia, witnessed numerous balls of light in the sky - similar to shooting stars - but they kept disappearing and then reappearing again, as if they were burning up constantly. Could this be a product of the hail storm - most obviously, hail? We got a hail storm last night, and those little balls of ice can look pretty weird at a distance.
Then again, people have been seeing all kinds of "shooting stars" that aren't quite shooting stars - most recently in Buffalo. It's a noticeable trend that I can't quite pin down.

A couple of weeks ago, just after the Russian meteor, I was traveling in west Texas near the New Mexico border.
