Another very large and bright meteor was spotted this week, this time along the East Coast in the US, and this time the fireball was spotted during the day, which is unusual as the sun's rays typically drown out such objects.
Is this part of a "wave" of meteors passing by planet Earth right now? After all, an extremely giant asteroid apparently made a close shave of Earth during the same time frame.
9/10/2016 Update: Another large meteor has been caught on video during the daytime in North Carolina and Virginia Loud booms and ground shaking have been reported in Cyprus, and as there were also reports of a blue glow over a nearby mountain range, so clearly a meteor was in the area! Geologists speculate pieces of it landed in the sea. Watch video below, which shows the flash of light: Bright flash of meteor filmed at :08 mark:
Could this be a fragment from the huge asteroid that made a close pass with Earth on September 7th? Do you think more bright fireballs are to come?
Local news in Oregon lit up with reports of a bright fireball. A few videos were captured of a meteor gliding through the night sky and taking quite a while to dissolve. No meteor showers were expected for this evening, but Portland residents sure got a show!:
AMSMeteors.org received loads of reports of the amazing fireball:

UFO Sightings Hot Spot picked up a great sighting --- many reports of a strange, slow-moving fireball were sent to local news outlets in San Diego, including a video. One witness even described the object as a craft with lights. The nearby US Coast Guard had no explanation for the sighting, confirming that they had no activity going on at the time. Many have suggested the fireball is a meteor, a product of the Perseid Meteor Shower, which gave a beautiful show a few nights prior, however the fireball is moving too slow to be that. Even Steve Flanders, public affairs coordinator at Palomar Observatory, does not think the Perseids are a viable explanation.
