Meteor....Rocket...UFO? Seen Over Texas - Mass Sighting

7/18/2020

  • When: July 18th, 2020
  • Where: All over Texas
  • What: "String of lights"

Multiple videos and reports of a "string of lights" streaming through the nighttime sky have been reported. These lights were seen all around the state, with sighting reported as early as midnight, and as late as 6:45 am. Sightings as far away as Ingram and Winkler County, Texas (that's a four-hour drive) were reported around the same time, however, at 2 AM.

Check out the original witness videos below, as well as testimony that was submitted to MUFON. Many are suggesting that these lights could be a meteor shower (perhaps the delta Aquariids or the Perseids). Meanwhile, the "South Texas Weather Updates" Facebook page is suggesting that this is a crashing Russian rocket, specifically the SL-4 rocket body, which has the ID 44799. I did confirm that this rocket was expected to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere on July 17th, so this theory is not far off.

The following video was provided to James Boyd. He was a witness. At approximately 2:01 AM on 7/18/2020 what’s believed to be Russian SL-4 ROCKET BODY (ID 44799) made reentry and was seen by many across northern South TX. Video taken from northwest Webb County, Texas. At the time it was believed to be a large satellite or possibly the ISS, but upon further review of databases and based on trajectory and timing it is likely SL-4; 44799. The SL-4’s reentry was a catastrophic reentry causing it to disintegrate.

Granite Shoals, TX testimony submitted to  MUFON (case 110213):

"Pretty straightforward. It looks similar to a string of lights like Christmas lights in a tube or the lights on a theater floor. No sound and no emission. Flying at a similar altitude as a small prop plane so pretty low. It seemed illusory like a projection"
Here's a map of where this "meteor" or "rocket" or "UFO" was reportedly seen:

Do you have theories on what this was? A meteor? A rocket? An alien spaceship? I did find it curious that all the videos show the lights traveling upward, rather than crashing downward. That may be a clue as to what exactly happened here. As always, let me know what you think here in the comments, or on social (I'm on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook).

Case Solved? Mysterious Red Lights Photographed Over Texas - Multiple Witnesses!

1/11/2019

January 11th, 2019 Update:  Many more reports of these lights have come rolling in, but it turns out aliens aren't visiting, after all. According to local news, the National Weather Service explained the lights as caused by "light refraction after a temperature inversion" earlier that evening.  The flames by the nearby oil rigs were suggested as the culprit. Did you see these lights as well? Do you agree that these were just light reflections?
Original story

  • Where: Odessa and Midland
  • What: Mysterious red lights; explained as lights reflecting off ice crystals

TexasUFOs received two very similar reports and photos of strange red lights over Texas. On the night of January 8th, 2019, UFOs were seen over the nearby Texas towns of Midland and Odessa. Check out the photos and testimonies submitted to TexasUFOs below:

Alex writes about seeing a "rod/cigar" UFO sighting:

In the eastern night sky, 4 unknown lights were sighted. There were 3 smaller and 1 large. The largest light was pulsing bright and would dim multiple times.

Midland, Texas, at the Permian Lodging in Midland, Texas on January 8th, 2019:

Justin Reynolds writes:

Walked outside and all around camp counting almost 7 were at first I thought shooting stars as that is what it resembled. But looking closer they never moved just stayed stationary it seemed and always stay within the cloud line. To the right of the sky where 3 of them, they were in almost a side by side setting but the one in the middle started shinning brighter than the rest and then they pulsated. Left to right and the one in the middle stayed brighter than the two on the other side. I called my friend in Victoria and my other friend in big lake and being both almost an hour from me one way and an hour n half the other they both said they saw them and the crew that was with them saw them

What do you think of this recent UFO sighting over Texas? Could these be military flares, fireworks, or something else explainable? Or evidence of alien visitation? Share your theories on what these witnesses may have seen in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
