A really interesting report of a "shooting star" that then stopped and changed directions, has been reported to NUFORC (case 152105): yellowish haze sphere seen falling from the sky and then compressing and shooting westward Although there were no photos or videos taken of this incident, a similar phenomenon was seen south of Lipon, near Belton, Texas on November 30th:

when I was about 14yrs old I lived 40 miles south of San Antonio and attended Southside H.S. on 281 south. We lived on 10 acres of land and I had to catch the school bus at 6:45a.m., where our driveway met the main road(Hardy Road). Well one morning while I was sitting on our front fence waiting for the bus, I noticed what I thought was a, "falling star". It was an orange spherical-shaped object falling somewhat slowly....then it suddenly stopped about 1000-2000ft. from the ground and shot upward, opposite of how it had been traveling. It was like nothing I had ever seen before! My entire observation lasted probably no more than 12-13 seconds, but it's something I will always remember and it is why I believe that UFO's truly exist!
