Okay, so maybe not a star.
Watch Video 1: Apparently, this isn't the first time the YouTuber who uploaded this video has seen something like this. Do they just have their eyes open at the right place and at the right time, or are they seeing something that isn't there? Watch Video 2: The only peculiarly bright things in the night sky for these few nights is an extra special show by Mars and a surprise appearance by the the Zodiacal Light. Could one of these stars be the culprit? Or perhaps this is a satellite?
Did you see this strange "star?" If so, please report your sighting!

When: September 8th, 2013 Where: Austin What: Orb changing colors and size Two friends observed a pretty head-scratching sight the other night in Austin. While some of the UFO's behavior can be described by tricks of the camera versus, well, any actual behavior, what the witnesses have to say on camera may have you believe otherwise. As well, I've seen this sort of behavior a LOT, and it's actually typical of some of the very best and most credible videos out there. As always, you be the judge. Check out the video below. There it is... there she is.
10/20/13 Update: Similar footage from San Antonio was recently posted to YouTube. We have a new local UFO chaser, or, err, attractor(?) to keep track of... it seems YouTuber r35tt of Katy, TX, has been seeing UFOs and uploading the evidence to YouTube for quite a while now.
Watch Part 1: Watch Part 2: Read Along: I'm glad they're back.
So, what could it be? Read the first UFO report submitted to MUFON right here: I am a sky watcher and somewhat familiar with most objects in our skies. This object first started appearing in the north about 6 months ago or more. When it appears{after dark}usually around 7-8pm CST. It shows up first as a bright white Orb. Then proceeds to start cycling thru different colors. I thought this was a strange star for a very long time because it reliably remains in the same place sometimes night after night. August 29th 2013 for the first time I observed it move location and also appear to release a smaller orb then reabsorb it. It did not move far just went behind some trees. I went out and checked the new location and it was still same object doing the same light show. It makes no sounds but it very noticeable in the sky. I lost sight only because I had to go to sleep. It was still in the sky when I went to sleep around 11:00pm. Since it shows up a lot my next sighting I will try a video camera with a zoom lens and document this. When I get that I will send this along, so it can be analyzed. Thanks for your help with this. I really would like to know what this could be, man made?, a weird star that moves?, Planet, or a genuine UFO (unknown). And read the comment of a fellow Fort Worth resident, Derick Cooper, who spotted the same thing: I saw this too last week, as did my GF as well. We were talking on the phone when I noticed it, I in East FW, she in Colleyville. She and her son saw 2 of them. When I first saw it, it seemed to be at about 3-4,000 ft. just S. of downtown FW. It slowly drifted NW. I watched it for 35-40 minutes until I could not see it for the trees. It looked like a very bright star & was changing color as described. Did you see this strange orb over Fort Worth? Report your sighting!
Luckily, NASA captured it all on camera: What's even more astonishing is this is the latest in a long line of shooting stars to glimmer over the heads of Texans during this past month, alone. For starters, there was the annual Perseid Meteor Shower that started showing up around August 10th, and didn't let up... well... ever? That's certainly what it feels like... case in point:
Next up is video of a supposed "UFO" over Dallas weeks later": But that's hardly the tip of it, folks. The entire month of August, as well as these first few weeks of September have been drenched with UFO reports. August 21st, for example, was a goldmine for fireball sightings, according to my favorite asteroid watch site AMSMeteors.org: A little lost? Don't blame you. Here's a recap: The Play by Play
Were you lucky enough to witness one of these fireballs? Have you seen one I don't know about? Either way, would love to hear from you.
