A really interesting MUFON report (case 90120), filed by a MUFON investigator on behalf of the witness, details a case in South Texas of a single bright orange light that split into multiple lights, which then chased each other around in the night sky. The UFOs were then accompanied by "two high-speed aircraft" before they finally disappeared. The sight was later reported to the local sheriff. Read the UFO report below: Bright orange light split into 4 and chased each other.
I have covered a handful of fascinating UFO sightings in Cotulla, Texas before, which mostly took place at the Cotulla oil fields. In fact, those UFOs were strikingly similar to the ones described in this most recent secondhand testimony. Compare this case to the photo below and other UFO "stories" shared in Cotulla:
What do you think of these mysterious lights over Cotulla? Could they be alien, top-secret military craft, or something easier to explain - perhaps military flares, Chinese lanterns, or fireworks? Share your theories in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
Do you live in the area? Did you also see these UFOs? Report your sighting!

This appears to be a part of a mass sighting that went on for a period of 2 months all over the state of Texas. Here's a new report from the event. See reports, in order: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 A Texas UFO Sightings reader shared some pretty phenomenal footage of a pretty phenomenal event - in the video below, you will see 19 or so bright solid lights hovering very still, with one blinking like a craft. The video is short and so is the description, but it's pretty interesting and shows the exact same - recurring! - anomaly reported in the Cotulla oil fields mainly, but also in Houston, San Antonio and several other Texas cities. Check out this photo from Houston in January (click for video): Now, here's screenshot and video from nearby Katy a bit later in February: Looked like very large Chinese fire burning lanturns. Videos Taken with iPad but streetlight blocked out the beautiful fire colored objects. Notice ball like object. What are we looking at here? Chinese lanterns on a very still night - with a helicopter checking it out? A group of helicopters or drones? A giant craft with lots of lights?

Cotulla is a hot spot for UFO activity. There's no way around it. The oil fields in particular are always seeing strange phenomenons. Well we've got a mass sighting of "bright orbs" in the Cotulla oil feilds and nearby Ahserton on the night of February 20th. Texas UFO Sightings received a report out of Cotulla area that detailed dozens of lights in the sky, and now witness - but this time in nearby Asherton - has reported the same phenomenon from the same night to MUFON: I observed other oil field workers looking up in sky I started seeing bright orbs moving across the sky. I immediatley started taking photos and video Prior to the siting my self and several other workers heard a loud boom across the field from fracking site. When i started video i got some videio then object disapeared. I talked to others out on job alot men got pictures before me. I will try to track down these photos and videos but so far we just have witness testimony. Can you help solve this mystery? Have you seen UFOs in the Cotulla area recently? You're not alone - share your sighting!
Got theories on what these objects could be? Chinese lanterns or related to the ongoing phenomenons in the area?
March 3rd, 2015 Update: Another report has confirmed this sighting - but at the Cotulla oil fields specifically. A father and son driving along south I-35 spotted orange balls of light disappearing and reappearing in different parts of the sky - first just three appeared, and then they were (seemingly) everywhere. Check out the testimony graciously submitted to Texas UFO Sightings: I was driving down I-35 southbound from San Antonio, TX to Laredo, TX. Between 8:25 - 8:30 pm, approximately, I saw, directly in front of me, up in the sky, 3 orange balls of light. They appeared one by one, in a line. And just as soon as they appeared they disappeared. A few minutes later, I was around mile marker 60 when I noticed another orange ball of light appear and disappear...this time it was a little more to the west of the first 3. Immediately after that, they started popping up everywhere directly to the west of me. We counted about a dozen or more appear and disappear. We did not see them move...just appear in a random space, disappear, and then reappear again in a different spot. Did you see these objects as well? Help solve the mystery and report your sighting.
Could these have been Chinese Lanterns? The day of the sighting was a Friday when a celebration might have been happening. However, the fact that the lights disappeared and reappeared in different parts of the sky implies something much more phenomenal. As well, strange lights like these have been spotted around Texas, one of the more compelling of those sightings was from Houston:
November 14th, 2014 Update: A very similar phenomenon was recorded in Stephenville in November. Some of the strangest UFOs seem to show up near oil fields. Cotulla, TX in particular has been the place of now famous sightings. Well, we've got another sighting out of Cotulla (in October), as well as one in Beaumont (Dallas area) to report (from August). Why report these sightings together? They both happened near oil fields and instead of single objects flying around the sky, we see lots of flashing in both cases. Beaumont sighting from August 28th: UFO TEXAS SOUTH EAST *START AT ABOUT 35 SECONDS IN. Cotulla sighting from October 5th: Strange lights flashing in night sky taken from oil fields. Camera only caught the lights as small white flashes, when in fact the cameras was only picking up the fireballs. That's what the white lights are at 5 minutes in. There were about 7 to 10 sporadic white flashing lights before, during and after. However the camera couldn't pick them up. What is the link between oil fields and UFOs?
