"Its movements appeared smooth and calculated" - Flying Saucer Seen Over Stephenville, Texas

6/27/2022

  • When: October 18th, 2012 at 3:01 PM
  • Where: Stephenville
  • What: "Stereotypical," gold and metallic-looking flying saucer-shaped craft that flew at incredible speeds

In a location famed for a sighting of a V-shaped set of lights (or craft) in 2008, Stephenville, Texas, there was another incredible sighting... but it happened a few years later, and it was of a clear saucer-shaped craft. This is all according to testimony recently submitted to MUFON (case 123104):
Stereotypical flying saucer in the day time above Stephenville, TX

In the fall of 2012 in Stephenville, TX my girlfriend and I were taking a walk in the afternoon. The sky was clear and blue. As we were getting back to the parking lot of our apartment building from our walk I noticed something in the sky. Without a doubt we both saw the ufo, It was a stereotypical flying saucer like you see in the movies. It looked almost gold-ish and metallic, but it could’ve been reflecting light from the sun. Staring up at the ufo, it was oscillating in place, it then descended approximately 100-500 feet and remained in place oscillating for another 5 seconds, it then moved to the left approximately 100-300 feet and oscillated for another 10 seconds before taking off. It didn’t just vanish, it zoomed off in speeds faster than any jet I’ve seen. Its movements appeared smooth and calculated. We attempted to take a video but it looked little more than a black spec in our phones at the time. There’s not a doubt in my mind of what we saw, and it was very surreal. I no (sp) longer have the video (or the phone). It was hard to determine how far up the in the sky the ufo was, close enough to see it was a flying saucer, but definitely more than 500 yards, it’s really difficult to speculate a decade later how high it was. Also, not sure about the elevating in degrees and so I put zero on this report.

New Witness to Stephenville Lights: Airplane passenger thought to themselves "that everyone will see this object as it enters the town"

5/23/2021

  • When: January 2008
  • Where: Stephenville
  • What: Famous Stephenville Lights incident seen by airplane passenger who is just now coming forward

You may know about the Phoenix Lights incident in Arizona, but did you know about the Stephenville Lights incident in Texas? The sightings are pretty similar, with the event in Texas  happening years later.

In January 2008, many Texans watched a group of glowing reddish orange lights, which seemed to be part of a craft as large as a football field, slowly and silently fly overhead. The case was well documented, and it was later revealed that there was even radar evidence of it, and that the UFO was headed toward then President George Bush's Crawford Ranch, a no fly zone.

Although it's increasingly difficult to find information about the Stephenville Lights incident, and increasingly easy to accuse the government of covering it up!, we still learn new things about it every now and then. Case in point... a new witness to the mass UFO sighting has come forward! They submitted testimony to MUFON (case 115564):
I was on an American airlines flight from orange county to DFW in Jan 2008, sitting in first class 1D(window). AS we started our descent into Dallas, and probably 10 -15 min before we landed we were going over a town, which I later found was Stephenville. The elevation of the airplane was probably 10k-20k ft. Looking out the window and at an angle from the vertical of about 20 degrees below me was the layout of the town. At the edge of the southwest corner of the town there was an immense flying structure which was moving very slowly towards the NE at very low altitude (<500ft).. I estimated from my vantage point that the craft was about 2/3 the size of the town's footprint. AS I watched in amazement and thought to myself that everyone will see this object as it enters the town,  it started to fade and became invisible over about 5 seconds,  ie before it went across the town. All these years, I have not mentioned this to anyone because of the high strangeness, and given my seniority in a global eng/const company. I happened to see something about the stephenville sightings on TV and thought I'll add my statement, for what its worth. Note that I now live in Australia, so email best

Multiple UFOs Seen Over Stephenville - Are the "Stephenville Lights" an Ongoing Phenomenon?

3/9/2019

  • When: February 13th, 2019 at 7:10 and 7:35 PM
  • Where: Stephenville, Texas area
  • What: Multiple UFOs

Imagine if the weirdest thing you ever saw in the sky was a shooting star. And then one evening, you see not one, not two, but multiple UFOs! That's what happened to one witness, according to two recent reports submitted to MUFON. Read the testimonies below, which detail two incredible UFO sightings. Then compare these reports to the famous Stephenville lights from 2008. Could these events be related? As always, you be the judge:
[report 1: case 98486]: A cloud of glittering or sparkling lights appeared in the sky at night as I was driving in a rural area. Two of these then burst into flare-like brilliance before disappearing.
On February 13, 2019, at just after 7:00 p.m., I was driving on a rural back road in Erath County, Texas (Highway 2214), heading southeast, just outside and northwest of the tiny town of Desdemona. Ahead of me in the dark night sky, I became aware of a kind of "cloud" of glittering or sparkling white lights appearing at an approximate angle of 35 degrees above the horizon. There was no way to tell how many of them there were, nor was there any way to judge how far away or how high in the sky they might actually be. Their rate of glittering or sparkling was slow, so that only two or three were visible at a time. I began trying to recall if there were any radio or other communication towers in the direction of the lights, because I thought at first that they might be flashing lights on such towers. But there are no such towers in that direction. I also thought the lights might be multiple jets or airplanes flying at high altitudes, but their appearance and the rhythm or pattern of their flashing was unconventional and not like that of such aircraft. I had a full three or four minutes to observe this aerial phenomenon as I drove, and I felt increasingly baffled by it.

Then, suddenly, two of the sparkling lights effectively "burst" into brighter lights that appeared like oversized stars. These began to glide or fall, tracing a slight arc as they headed vaguely earthward. They also left faint trails or streamers. After about five or six seconds, they disappeared -- not as if they had fallen to earth, but as if they had burned out.

At that point, the road I was on curved slightly eastward, to the left, moving the cloud of glittering lights to my right-hand view. I could see them still sparking as they appeared to move behind the cloud cover that had begun to spring up. I lost sight of them after a moment more.

Half an hour later, I experienced another sighting in Stephenville, Texas (see my separately filed report). Prior to tonight, I had never witnessed a UAP.

[report 2: case 98485]: A stationary horizontal row of wedge-shaped (for lack of a better description) white lights appeared and then disappeared.
On February 13, 2019, at 7:35 p.m. I was in the parking lot of Ranger College in Stephenville, Texas. The sky was dark and very slightly overcast. As I was facing south by southwest and starting to get into my car, I saw a horizontal row of somewhat rectangular or wedge-shaped white lights appear in the sky at an angle of about 35 degrees from the horizon. They were in the direction of, but not directly above, a nearby Alon quick stop/gas station. There was no way to tell how far away they might actually be, but in general they looked to be no more than a mile away. They did not appear suddenly, nor did they appear all at once. Instead, each light faded into view over a span of about two seconds, as if they had previously been present but dark and were now "lighting up." They faded into view like this in succession from left to right (from my angle of vision). A total of six or seven lights appeared in this manner, and the first of them began to fade away gradually to invisibility as the latter two or three were appearing. The row was entirely stationary, so that the lights appeared to be not independent objects but attached to, or portions of, some larger object. By the time the fourth light had appeared I was diving into my car to grab my phone and try to take photos or capture some video, but I was ultimately unsuccessful in doing this. As I emerged from the car with my phone, I saw the full complement of six or seven lights beginning to fade away, starting with the leftmost one. Then they were gone. The full sighting lasted maybe 30 to 40 seconds.

Note that this was my second sighting within the same hour on the same night. See my separate report from the same date. Prior to these, I had never seen a UAP, other than a vaguely remembered long-lasting shooting star from sometime in my youth.

Famous "Stephenville Lights" of 2008:

Picture
In 2008, mystery lights seen and photographed over Stephenville, Texas made news headlines. Orange/red glowing orbs, flying in formation (or perhaps connected to one single craft!), were seen flying over Texas, specifically in the direction of (then) President George Bush's ranch in Crawford. Although there was radar captured of the event, the story quickly fizzled in the media and multiple "debunkings" have been given since.

Bright Orb Wandering Over Stephenville, Texas - See Video

6/30/2016

  • When: Summer 2016 (date unknown)
  • Where: Stephenville
  • What: Three orbs moving in circles around sky, very high up; one captured on camera

A UFO has been spotted in Stephenville, Texas city known for strange areal phenomenons. In the YouTube video below, you can see one bright star-like object wandering around the night sky, moving in circles:
Picture
Object zoomed in
The thumbnail is THIS UFO blown up - it's shaped like a jack-n-the-box head. These have been passing every single night that we look up. Some dim, some bright, traveling north south east or west. The other night I saw 3. I thought they could be satellites since they are illuminated by the sun, shortly after sunset, but you never know.
The UFO appears to be too high up and fast to be a typical plane, drone or satellite, but until we learn more, it will be hard to crack this case. If you also live in Texas and have seen a UFO recently, report your sighting!

New, Weird "Star?" in Texas - many Witnesses - SEe Photos

9/6/2015

  • When: Started September 4th and 5th but continuing this month
  • Where: All over Texas - including Amarillo, Dallas and Houston
  • What: Star-like object that wobbles, changes colors, and moves - mass sighting

Story updated September 9th (updates in red): Texas UFO Sightings continues to receive statewide reports of a 'wandering" or "wobbling" star that does disappearing acts,  changes colors, and even zig zags about! Many people (including a local ufologist who I follow) speculate that this is just a bright planet - perhaps Venus - however most eyewitnesses describe the light behaving in a way that a planet (or satellite, for that matter) should not. Could this be a unique optical illusion that is happening due to unique space conditions?, a super nova?, the ISS, or something even stranger, like an ET space craft or satellite? Although Venus is a bright planet this month, there is nothing on the astronomical/star gazing calendar that would lead you to expect to see anything new in the sky on September 5th, the day these sightings started.  If you have theories, join the conversation. If you saw this "star" as well and don't think this is a "star" at all, report your sighting!

Texas UFO Sightings received several reports last night and this morning - from different parts of the state. Everyone saw a very large glowing object very high up in the sky, as if it was a star or satellite. However, it did things that a star or satellite should not do
- like wobble, disappear and reappear, and even change colors. The photos the witnesses snapped show a bright star-like object, but each witness saw different things:

Granbury:

I saw the same object over Granbury TX near Stephenville. The object has appeared for the last 3 nights over the lake. Here is a picture off my camera phone.

I check this site weekly and I wasn't quite sure if this was a planet or some type of Ufo. Now that I have seen others post similar pictures in the dallas area I thought I would share. I came home from work just before dawn and I noticed an abnormally bright light in the sky. I checked an app called the night sky to see if it was planet and it showed that Mars and Venus were in the same area. I was looking south towards Dallas from the lake. The object was the brightest light in the sky which had no color to it like most planets when you view them at night. I decided to get the binoculars out and noticed the light had an odd shape to it. I got my Samsung S6 which has a 8x zoom and great clarity. I began taking pictures and zoomed in further than what I could see with the binoculars. I'm not sure if this was actually a planet or not so I thought I would share. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks you
Unknown city in Texas:
Picture
Bright light in the sky it stood out. And watched it for over a hour. Only once did it move enough for to notice. I saw it move forward then backwards in one motion. It would also dim down on the brightness to where it was faint then real bright again. I'm watching it again as I write this. I guess it got smarter about making a visible ruckus. Almost forgot also saw tonight a star looking object moving around the bright object in the sky. I even called my family to see it, satellites I don't know . I'm still unsure about what exactly I'm seeing when i look through my binoculars. I put it on a tripod so it won't move. Anyways i think i see faintly parts of the craft. There's definitely three orb like lights in the center that dim and go bright. And seems to look like i guess wings like a plane on the side and a tail. Again idk if my eyes are playing tricks on me but if they are they been doing it for the past two days. And I'm 27 so still in the prime of my eyes

Houston:

A friend and I noticed a very bright sphere shaped object hovering stationary in the sky early this morning in the Houston, TX heights area (9-5-15, 6am). No sounds coming from the object, it was silent and very still but noticed many different moving/hovering lights around it. Faint red lights surrounding it, and almost a faint green misty looking trail behind it. We saw the brightly illuminated objects around it moving at an about average speed towards and away from the bright white sphere shaped object. I will not specify on any belief/non-belief on such things, it seems as though most invest too much emotion in that sort of thing... Just want to clearly state facts and provide original camera phone photos we snapped. Very interesting though...

East of Amarillo, along i-40:

So I don't know what this was. I saw it for about 2 hours when it was dark and I was heading from Amarillo to Oklahoma. I figured it was a satellite, and it may have been. The strangest thing was that at one point I watched it literally fade out completely until it was a light blue dot, then gone for about 30 seconds. It then faded back in the exact same way. Weather balloon? It was too high for any kind of tower, and it wasn't an airplane.

When it became daylight I could see it slightly, but then it appeared to move, because I started losing it much faster than should have been possible by just me driving toward it, since it'd been in roughly the same spot most of the time I'd seen it. My photos suck, I think maybe one of them came out non-blurry.

I saw a bright object in the East rising the same rate as the stars. It might be a Large Balloon but I'm wondering if it is a Supernova. Perhaps it is and perhaps not.

Like I sat and watched what appears to be a orb whitish in color ,swaying back and forth from time to time then it would just sit still for while and act like a rising star. I'm watching it like right now as I type, when I first came out side for smoke it was yellowish and appeared to be a plane before whatever it is started acting like a star but I'm like dude I see you moving . I'm guessing it could be a drone of some sort because this isn't the first time I've seen this wondering star doing whatever it is doing .I watched for at least 45 minutes
Check out some of the most recent comments and reports about this strange "star":
We noticed a large white glowing light floating straight up into the sky. It seemed to sit still for about 15 seconds, then it slowly drifted to the right , then changed to a bright red color. The color was very intense. This object did not make any noise. It glowed red about 10 seconds then turned white again. It started to slowly lower down but we lost sight of it. It startled us because it seemed to just appear, and we have not seen it before. I read that three other people in Texas could've possibly witnessed the same type of lights!
-Conroe, TX

I was laying on the pool, about 11:30 9/4/15, and noticed this orb. It would race across the sky, stop, do circles, dart off, then remain at a spot for awhile. At first I thought falling star until I kept watching.

I also watched this object early this morning. About 3-4am. It was rising in the sky ahead of Venus and Mars. They eventually were right beside it, but not initially. This object was bright, changed dramatically in color, and moved side to side as well as up and down. It looked to be a plane heading towards me, but it never changed in distance away from me. I am south of the Dallas Fort Worth area.

While on my porch at about 2 am my wife and i spotted a hovering light that was changing colors. It went from red to green to blue to purple. Stared at it for about an hour and then went inside.
-Castroville, TX on September 8th

Outside family home observed strange bright blinking light stationary in the sky. Then looked towards the direction of the sunrise and seen a very large bright object very disturbingly low suspended in the sky. I snapped a few photos and recorded some video with my battery almost dead and a broken lense galaxy s5 cell phone so the quality is poor but still visible. I observed the object for approximately 15 minutes before i decided to get footage. As the sun rose the objects disappeared vertically into the sky at a fascinating high rate of speed.
-Luckee Espinosa in Vernon, TX

I saw this too. I thought it was Venus. I used my sky map app and it said Venus but then I tried it again and it couldn't identify. This was at 6:53 am yesterday.

We were freaking out. This was not a planet. Nor was it stationary. Its movements assured me it wasn't a plane, as it zig zagged through the sky at rapid speeds. It would also disappear. We watched it for 20 minutes. I recorded a video, but the video doesn't show the object. You can hear us freaking out on it though..

Did you see this "star" as well? Please report your sighting so we can solve this mystery!

It's very odd to see such a frenzy of reports like this -- but could we simply be looking at the ISS or a satellite? Or is this something much more unusual, like a supernova (as one witness suggested) or even an ET spacecraft? Share your thoughts in the comments or on the Facebook page.
