January 11th, 2019 Update: Many more reports of these lights have come rolling in, but it turns out aliens aren't visiting, after all. According to local news, the National Weather Service explained the lights as caused by "light refraction after a temperature inversion" earlier that evening. The flames by the nearby oil rigs were suggested as the culprit. Did you see these lights as well? Do you agree that these were just light reflections?

Hate to burst any bubbles but could tell immediately that these were reflections of lights onto a window or possibly camera lens. Upon investigation for about 2 seconds, could tell it was a reflection of the street lights seen on the left of the picture.

Hate to burst Your bubble Matt, but thats not reflections on glass. These lights were seen by multiple people and even reported on the news. Supposedly, the phenomenon was caused by light refraction through high level clouds due to temperature inversion. Thats the weather guy's explanation anyway..

Ha. Ok, fair enough. I will begrudgingly accept that. Still think its the street lights, but perhaps refracting off of low clouds. Any way, dont mind being wrong. Good to have ones bubble burst every now and again

Sorry Matt, I saw them with my own eyes and there were hundreds of them and they were not visible in town, only in dark areas with no street lamps. They were all suspended above the clouds, except for 2 that i saw that were in a starry clearing and seemed flat against a glass-like surface. Hard to buy the gas well refraction since the clouds beneath were not illuminated as they are each and every night. We live between 2 constant burning gas flares and witness the cloud illumination directly above the flares, but not further.

I witnessed this. There were over 20. Came and went and repositioned for at least one hour or more. I didnt stay for more than 20 mins...but my family were outside watching, while I was inside prepping. Lol. It was the strangest thing I've seen in 33 years while completely sober. Not cool.

By far the weirdest thing I’ve ever witnessed. They said WHAT YOU SEE IS A OILFIELD FLARE WE’LL CALL IT THAT that reflected off ice crystals from 10 to 15 thousand feet in the air. But for shits n giggles I remember the first mib movie when they flashed thingy them guys at the first of the movie and said somewhat the same thing the news said.... MISGUIDED SHEEP
